Thanksgiving at Heartway | Thanksgiving Side Dishes | Scalloped Corn | Parmesan Bacon Green Beans

Come along with us today as we celebrate Thanksgiving with Annie's side of the family! We'll share some of our family traditions and favorite recipes for the holiday, including our delicious "scalloped corn" recipe and our favorite turkey brining method!

Scalloped Corn Recipe:
1 stick of butter (8 tablespoons), melted
8 oz sour cream
1 box Jiffy corn muffin mix, 8.5 oz
1 can creamed corn, 15 oz
1 can whole kernel corn, drained, 15 oz
2 eggs, beaten
1/4-1/2 cup sugar
Stir together well in a greased crock pot and cook on high for 3 hours, stirring occasionally. I double this recipe for our family get togethers. Enjoy!

Where did you store such a large thawed turkey and brine? You must have a large refrigerator? I live in South Dakota where we usually we can count on a little bit chillier weather to help in that department, but it’s been in the 40s during the day.

I do have a fridge in my basement which has space for a large pot. But if the weather is below freezing, which this year it definitely was, we have a back room of our basement that acts like a giant refrigerator. I can store stuff out there which is such a blessing.

Not sure why there has to be a lot of fuss in the prep of a turkey, smear it in butter, put bacon across the breast, wrap in foil and cook, guarantee no dry turkey
