Hi Ken, I bought an Epiphone Faded Sunburst Les Paul 60s Tribute with a plain top (hardly any figuring) about 7 years ago and the setup was perfect out of the box. I know people will sneer and say you've got to get a Gibson but I couldn't believe it as I'd tried out a couple of Gibson LPs and another Epiphone with a AAA veneer top that looked stunning and none of them played and sounded as good to me as the plain top Epiphone I bought. I guess I was lucky, but wow, what a guitar.

What a nice guitar, looks like denim and even more with the golden knobs. Can't wait for that neck surgery on the Ibanez. No scarf joint? The method with the two parallel inserts I've seen a lot from a Japanese guy who does all the work others wouldn't touch, lots of bass neck straightening and all that. Never seen those ultra long inserts...what would they change besides the stiffness through half the neck? But the debth he routed astounded me. With some breaks he added more wood and shaped a volute too. I'll send you a translated link via mail If I can still find him , maybe you'll find the pictures helpful. You're already right on target. You could do a full video called "Ken's damn good jigs." I remember the binding jig. Have a wonderful thanksgiving, and return to the Deacon soon. I'm giddy to hear the completed thing.

I have a Pearly Gates in a Telecaster.......never tried one in a Les Paul. it's ok in the Tele.
