It is so sad to see such unkind comments about two young ladies that didn’t have much of a chance in life from the day that they were born. At least one of them born probably with drugs in her system and both living as children in an abusive home. They lived their lives in survival mode and all people can think about is how they mispronounced words. Come on, we have to be better people 😢

It seems that they spent their whole lives with their adopted family. They were fortunate enough not to have lived in conditions that their birth parents would have provided. I say all that to say this, knowing they were adopted probably was always in the back of their mind but they were not subjected to living in abhorrent conditions. It seems their adopted mom was loving and it also seems that as they reached adolescence they may have had a turbulent relationship with their adopted dad.

🚨🚨I just want to take the time out to say how often abuse happens in foster homes. Physical, sexual, AND mental abuse - at the hands of foster mothers, foster father, biological children of foster parents, and by other foster kids living in the same house. Ppl think giving their child up is the best option, but often times it just introduces them to a new kind of trauma. Prayers to these women and other ppl who have made it through and are healing and trying to find balance and normalcy in life. 💜

This is a very privileged statement to make. Self-education is a privilege. There are places in the US that don’t have access to books for school or books for libraries, so it’s not that easy or accessible. Just because you might live somewhere where books are readily available, that doesn’t take a way from the fact that it’s still a privilege. That, on top of a lack of community resources and engagement and no opportunities to even know what better is, makes that statement tone-deaf.
