I loved hearing the story of Thanksgiving. As a Brit it's not something we celebrate and to hear the actual words and the story of people who sailed across the ocean to start a new life was really interesting as I've never heard the real story before. That mre really stood up, considering it was over 20 years old. I somehow missed this video when it dropped, but Happy Late Thanksgiving :)

Thanksgiving is simply a single day for giving thanks for WHAT EVER you have and for what you HAD... The younger generation thinks it is about the slaughter of the natives but that is on them.. It is a reminder to reflect... A reminder to be happy simply for WHAT you have and the great memories you DO have.

I wouldn't say it gets stronger, the vinegar usually goes to the top leaving the peppers and salt at the bottom, that's why its so thick too. I think Tobasco and peanut butter won't spoil if it's never been opened, the ingredients just separate over time. Nothing a good shake can't fix.

Excellent episode as always. I really like that they attempt to recreate holiday dishes to improve morale. The main dish doesn't look too bad, it sure doesn't look like a traditional turkey dinner but I'm sure it was appreciated by most soldiers. BTW, about the tabasco; apparently you can age it. A friend of mine had stored a bottle for 20 years. It had turned brown like yours but didn't taste bad. On the contrary I preferred the aged one to the fresh one which had a more mellow round taste.

Another very entertaining video, really like how you narrate the stories, blending them into the meals. I would imagine that the freeze dried coffee, had started to have the oils in it start to turn rancid. Being a former Farmers Brothers Coffee employee, we always had to be sure to rotate the warehouse stock, to ensure the oldest coffee went out first, just to make certain the oils weren't going to be old. Anyway, if it was drinkable, I'm sure it was still fine. Overall, a surprisingly good looking 20 plus year old Thanksgiving meal. Have a blessed Thanksgiving with all your loved ones, God bless.

@MeAncient2 жыл бұрын
@@GeckoPeltTv Sadly, like during Christ's time, there are many today who practice their religion for selfish reasons. Christ himself spoke out against those who paraded themselves as spiritual (most of the time leaders) but were only, "in it for themselves." Those individuals enjoyed the prestige, power, and money they gained from heading up people back then like some do today. The great thing about today is that we don't have a relationship with God through any man or organisation. That relationship is completely through Christ. Christ's death on the cross provides a way for all of us to be made right with the perfect God despite our sinful condition. When God raised Christ from the dead, He showed all creation that He accepted Christ's substitutionary death on our behalf. Now, all we must do is acknowledge Christ's free gift and turn from our sin. Do what God asks of us. He even provides the Holy Spirit to help us once we accept Christ's gift. Thank you for your comment. It's an important discussion to have. I would enjoy talking to you about it more via email if you'd like. Merry Christmas, my friend! MeAncient@gmail.com

Not equal to what we used to make with wild cranberries. bargain shelf oranges and a kiss of ginger root, but a nice taste of home. We do sometimes find imported frozen turkeys. It is far cheaper to hit the wet market, you may get lucky to find a live bird. Have a great family holiday guys, from Beautiful Bride Maria, Jack, Vincent, Veronica Wrainne Christian, and Lance.

tabasco does not have tomatoes, it should have been fine even though it was discolored.

I left a comment explaining this too. Hopefully they see this to help with future MRE trials.

The first thanksgiving started in 1996 when eric clapton was working on developing a holiday to promote people to buy his album pilgrim and also to come up with a way to boost the retail economy for the us armed forces

I hadn't read about that any where else, David. But enquiring minds want to know......TFW!

That’s gotta be from early 2000s 🥴🤔. Still edible though I had one from 2006 the other week when hunting , not this particular meal but it still tasted the same as it did 15 years ago. 😂. A lot of it depends how they’re stored. If they’re stored somewhere where it’s hot they go back in a few years. I keep mine in a cool unfounded basement room

Y'know, i kind of wish we'd have stuck with the old C-rats in cans. The "John Wayne" can opener P-38 made a decent screwdriver. The cans could be used for patching bullet holes if necessary. I've heard stories of guys patching holes in aircraft with beer cans in Vietnam.

You know it, S.T.L.! Those openers played all kinds of double duty. TFW!

Tobasco has so much vinegar it wouldn't generally go bad do to its acidic nature. It may not taste "right" but it'll be okay! I recently ate a brown bag and it was all ok to eat and that was a way older unit!

Since 1868, TABASCO® brand Original Red Sauce has been handcrafted with just three ingredients: aged red peppers, salt and distilled vinegar. This simple recipe produces a unique pungent flavor that works with just about any cuisine. I have had it when it looked tan but still good. No tomatoes .
