Yup. Mines a 2000. From California. As u know I'm from around Pitts. Mine came from Cali a year before I got it 3 years ago. Frame was original and brand new looking. I jacked it up. Did a phosphoric acid treatment for 3 days strait. And then did about ten coats of boiled linseed oil. In every cavity every square inch. I love that truck
@gtemnykh9 жыл бұрын
+Jason Curry The '96 you see in the video has the underside and frame completely saturated in Eric O's favorite Fluid Film. It was Ziebart-ed when new and didn't see much winter use from 2000-2012 until I bought it so the frame is incredibly clean for a Northern truck. I plan to keep it that way so every fall I spray down every nook and cranny, inside the frame, on all of the brake and fuel lines, parking brake adjusters, and especially the inside of the back bumper. If you haven't done so recently, take a look at what's hiding in those bumper corners, I must have scooped out about a pound of dirt from each one!
@sixpacksandsrts91229 жыл бұрын
+gtemnykh Yup I bought mine x couple years back. Original owner was an office worker. Never saw salt. Actually was out west till 2010 ish. Then is raked. I bought it. You could literally eat off the underside. I do regular oil baths myself. Mine is a 5 speed I'm at 150000. On original timing belt. I gotta change that. But. Love it otherwise

You're looking well fed after Thanksgiving. Not much left on the turkey I suppose.Was thinking of callin over, will have to do with some beef. That dielectric grease is handy when dealing with Eht. The old tv with the eht circuit was a case in point.The ole water test really does the job.Can't beat having a mechanic in the family.

Dielectric grease! I'm waiting on the second part in that series. I've proven it works and doesn't interfere with conductivity.

I own a tacoma. Same engine. Awesome engine. 150,000 on it. No noises. No leaks. Lots if power. And oil is clean as can be.

+Jason Curry Hell yeah man! The 3.4 V6 is one of my all-time favorite engines. Truly "bulletproof"...many Toyota trucks out there with over 300k miles. if only the frames wouldn't rust!
@gtemnykh9 жыл бұрын
+Jason Curry Agreed. Mine's just a baby with 124k miles, uses absolutely zero oil between 5k intervals. Excellent flat torque curve, and I consistently get a hand calculated 20 mpg in mixed/highway driving. The Aisin automatic transmission is a trooper as well, the only thing to watch out for is the ATF/coolant mixing when the internal transmission line starts to leak inside of the radiator. I've bypassed mine with an external B&M transmission cooler. Easy 1-2 hour installation with basic hand tools, seems to be working great.

Were you using an led test light that was grounded to help determine if spark was escaping? If so why didn't the high voltage blow out the led?
@PineHollowAutoDiagnostics9 жыл бұрын
+kkovler1 Nope just a regular ole' incandescent! In fact I don't even own an LED test light lol
@kkovler19 жыл бұрын
+motoYam82 That surprises me that you don't own an LED test, because I thought you been using one when you test computer controlled circuits with your Verus scan tool. regular incandescent test lights from what I understand should not be used to test computer controlled circuits!

In the video, the spark looked entirely orange, with almost no blue, even after drying things off. Was it?
@PineHollowAutoDiagnostics9 жыл бұрын
+douglas “The flame is dead” lee hmmm I guess it was orange... What would that mean? It did jump almost an inch to the test light, so I didn't give the color much thought...
@techsavantlove9 жыл бұрын
+motoYam82 __I've always learned, or been taught, that an orange spark is a weak spark, and a strong spark is always going to be a blue spark. That is what Danner always teaches. But if it jumped a good gap, but was orange, I don't know what that would mean.

+FDSeoul San Diego Oh believe me I tried! He graciously declined. He's done larger jobs on the truck where I did pay the standard labor rate (brought him the parts). For this quality of work, it's laughable that the main line dealers get to charge what they do for their parts swapping! I prefer to drive out 7.5 hours out to Pine Hollow Auto than down the street to a Toyota dealer here in Indy (assuming I don't do the work myself).
