Thanks to that, as you, didn't care at all about myself, I was on edge 24/7, etc. I began reading Berserk and read all of it in less than a week. Seeing Gut's character develop so much throughout his story touched me in such a way that no other story had. I dare to say that Guts's path and growth made me a better person. And that's all thanks to Miura, through his story telling, he changed my perspective on life. Care about the little things, and have an undying will to protect what you love. But then I looked him up out of curiosity, and the reality hit me like a truck. And I realized, the reason I saw these players, was as a tribute to the author. God, this is the worst start of a decade weve had. We were joking about Miura never finishing Berserk because of Idolmaster, meanwhile he was dealing with a freaking chronic disease that made his chest feel like it was being torn apart. He was such a private man (which was the smart thing to do) but it leaves me in despair wondering if he was satisfied or happy in his final days...was he in pain? Did he have a feeling his health was failing? I hope he felt incredibly proud of his magnum opus and his personal life was filled with love. I hope his art made his life fun and he didn’t look back in disappointment for not completing it. Because life and art isn’t always cleanly wrapped up in a bow and doesn’t always finish in the way we hope, and his art will live on and remain the most tragically beautiful and moving media that has been gifted to the world. A gothic, real and gritty story fused in fantasy that made a lot of people suffering with depression or felt lost happy. A drop of hope and marvel that showed many that struggling isn’t weak, but a true act of strength.

I don't know how Miura felt at the end obviously, but I know that anyone to be able to communicate such darkness has had to of suffered. @@davidkiller61 it’s just shocking 😔with the information given it seems to be caused by a thoracic aortic aneurysm, they cause aortic dissection... that’s something that doesn’t usually concern men unless they’re over the age of 65 ugh that’s just awful. Just tragic and I don’t think anyone would see that kind of end coming, especially him since he was eagerly working on new projects, it’s just so sad. His morale must have been good if he was going back to his own schedule. His condition must’ve worsened from high cholesterol, long-term high blood pressure, and smoking...he was such a perfectionist that was so self reliant and deadlines must’ve been stressful. Mangaka are treated like machines and not like people and I believe the stress and gruelling work would make him poorly. I hope he enjoyed all his hiatus time and watched all his favourite shows, played games, focused on his health and family instead of seeing those nagging comments about hurrying up from his editors and ‘fans’ because that probably made him feel under appreciated and dehumanized, just adding more stress. seeing a man I’ve respected so much, since I was a 13 year old girl, die so tragically and so young just makes me uneasy and feel lost. He inspired me to go into the arts and his updates were like Christmas Day. our mortality always comes to us as a shock, and I just can’t get used to it, it’s numbing. I’m just so thankful for what he poured his life into: he expressed his raw thoughts and ideas and was generous enough to share with the world. An artists sharing their work is a vulnerable thing, and that’s why, even though we never knew him, we knew what he stood for and we could empathize with how he wrote so personally about his own pain, flaws, insecurities, and strength through his characters R.i.p miura

Berserk changed my life for the better, I teach a longsword fencing class and started my semi successful KZbin channel off the back of that. None of that huge part of my life would have happened without Berserk. I wish he had had more time, I wish he had finished berserk, but I'm thankful for what he spent his life creating. I usually don't really get sad at celebrity deaths, I didn't know them personally so there's no point in being sad, but Miura's death made me cry. When I discovered berserk I was in a horrible spot, I was suicidal and hated myself, but seeing Guts struggle through so many hardships worse than what I was going through made me realize that I too could power through my hardships, and that I could help others with theirs. Miura was a man who could truly write emotion, not in a way that you see the character's emotion but in a way that you feel their emotions with them, you experience the joy and sadness of the characters. I genuinely think that Miura was the best mangaka, no matter how much I like other manga, or how good their worldbuilding or characters are, Miura will forever be my favorite mangaka.
