That was so interesting. And it was amazing that you were allowed to walk around so freely when people were working in some parts.

This is why I originally subscribed to your channel - for the behind-the-scenes insights into Chinese drama and filmmaking! Anyone can review dramas, even non-Chinese people, but it's very difficult for us 外国人 to access any information about what goes on behind-the-scenes. Like your videos way back in the day talking about how voice overs are used. I love this type of content!

It's really nostalgic remembering all those dramas with your walkthrough 😊 Imagine if the crew you caught on camera end up having a blockbuster airing, and then you make videos about it remembering how you actually saw them as a tourist in Hengdian 🤣

I love your walking tour little series! And when I saw that bridge and other parts for The Untamed and Word of Honor... my nostalgic heart just broke again! 🥺🥰PS: Kudos to you for fearlessly walking through the heat and through working sets, LOL! You're braver than I would be.

That's Jinlintai! The tower with the huge staircase that Jin Guangyao gets pushed down twice. It's interesting that Yi City and the manor where they apprehend Xue Yang are literally in the same place. No wonder they couldn't let him jump over the gate then, and I guess they erased the tower. Heh... *that* street from WOH. And also, interesting how Lotus Pier was such a mishmatch, but looked so seamless in the drama. Really well done!

The place at 10:00 looks like the ghost town where Xue Yang, Xiao Xingchen, and A-Qing lived together in the drama. Maybe I'm wrong but it looks very familiar lol

@@marianne3802 yup. "Yi City" is the name of that place in the English translation of the novel. In the show the subtitles call it "Coffin Town", but that sounds way sillier than it was supposed to so people generally use the novel's translation.

Interesting to see these locations and how dilapitated they look while there is not filming going on. Brings home just how much 'make believe' there is to drama world.

One thing I recognised: in a western country film crews would probably go total beserk if some tourists walks through their working space filming stuff.

This is something I would love to experience; not just touring the sets but witnessing some construction and interior design that goes on behind some scenes. I watched a behind-the-scenes construction clip of the palace's circular courtyard with a big tree(“Love Like the Galaxy”). It was 👍

Thanks for walking around in the heat in order to give us so many views of this interesting place! It is really cool ( no pun intended) to see the working side of drama- making. You held up well after all the walking and looked cute as always in your hat. I liked your comment about the ancient towns being built on a human scale. Most cities now have ignored that and consequently are very uncomfortable to walk around in. But I guess when you have 35 million people to accommodate you need more than a small village. But, like in Chongqing, there can be many small scale places within the large city. Love your vlogs, please keep them coming!

They are definitely building. That first sound is a nail gun in use. And, of course that second sound is a table saw of some sort. Oh, it is so cool that you were able to see some preliminary set construction for a project you just mentioned in a video. It is really wonderful to have a more direct connection to projects you are interested it. The engagement is higher. Thank you so much for taking the time to post all these vlogs while you've been busy and traveling a great deal. These are experiences I don't think I would find for myself. I'm really gaining a new perspective on the foundations used to establish time and place in film. There really is a lot that goes into the creation of images, and it often starts with some basics of stage selection.

Oh, 😊 I have mixed feelings! I love that you are taking us on this adventure of seeing the sets and where the historical dramas are shot, which is so cool 🤩 but then, seeing the actual buildings, the fake details, it's kinda taking the romanticized, lovely feeling of watching life in a previous era away; haha 😀 I love the vlogs though; cool to be on your journey with you 😍

I really enjoyed this! The last place with round pillars may have been from The Untamed, an early scene at the Mo family house when Wei Wuxian (as Mo Xuanyu) first encounters Lan Sizhui and his buddies. Thanks for going above and beyond!

Another great video! Thank you- I was so happy watching this. Loving these Hengdian vlogs so much and only makes me want to visit even more. Also is 7:57 the town/main seen in basically every drama? I remember a big street with lanterns that every production used as the main street of a big city .. but can’t clearly recall now.

Maybe you could use an umbrella for the sun? Not sure how practical it would be to carry, but maybe it could hang from a long strap, like a purse, on your back. (It helps me get through the sun and also to scare dogs away if there are any scary strays)

Totally Amazing! Thank you for this travel vlog, gives a better frame of reference for places we see in film but can't visit. Question: So, the interior furnishings, where do they get them? Do they rent actual buildings for the interiors, or do they have a warehouses for those? What about all the collectibles from interiors? Real or fake? ❤
