It's quite literally the mobile "GOT Conquest" game. Except, that game isn't buggy, things are spelled correctly, and there aren't (at least as far as know) fights of you controlling a character. Like the look is identical too, especially the part at the end with going to get resources and interacting with other players.

In the show, allying with Melisandre was kind of a "devil's bargain" that lent Stannis great power but ultimately led to ignominy and defeat. That Melisandre is the first character the game chooses to try to finagle you into purchasing suggests to me that either they are deeply unfamiliar with the show's lore, or that somewhere in a Shanghai mobile game company some wage-slave is pulling a "From hell's heart I stab at thee".

@@Arkayjiya Oddly enough I remember reading that due to some of the latest trade war tariffs between America and China, Chinese viewers actually didn't get to see the GoT finale. It's possible that this had some downstream effects and the *hitty little Chinese company that made this wreck of the game and planned to just use it to get some microtransaction money from the Chinese market had to scramble due to the sudden tariffs and had to start marketing in America in order to have a hope of making any money on the license they inexplicably acquired for the game instead of just stealing it like every other Chinese company does. So it's possible that Donald Trump is actually indirectly responsible for this thing being exposed to American audiences because he's the one who instituted the tariffs in the first place. (Granted it also may mean that he's the reason why its probably going to crash and burn harder than one would normally expect. So I suppose that's a little bit of a pro/con situation.)

But I am pretty sure this game is made by some Chinese company since as far as I know, not many people other than Chinese and Japanese, play a lot of browser game. I don't think they licensed it. They can't. They sold a license to their GoT IP to the chinese developers that developed the game but that would be all. If this was an original idea, then it should be applauded. However this game CLEARLY is not. Game of Thrones, Mafia City. War and Order. King of Avalon. Survivor Legacy, Game of War, Guns of Glory, and many others. All exactly the same game, just reskinned. Typical gameplay goes like this. You need more food, so you look to your farms. You have 8, and cannot build any more, so you have to 'upgrade' one. All are level 24, so you click on one farm (you can only upgrade one at a time), look at how much resources it costs to get to level 25, you have enough, so you click 'upgrade'. 'Upgrading to level 25 - Remaining time 4 days 23 hours 59 minutes 59 seconds'. WTF?????? Isnt this supposed to be a *GAME*, not a click and wait fest? Remember you have 7 more farms to 'upgrade', as well as lumber yards, stone quarries and iron mines (or whatever the 4 resources are in that particular game). But all is not lost. Next to the lethargic progress bar, there is always a speed up button. So lets speed up. 'Not enough gems' is the usual response, followed by a GIANT FUCKING PULSATING GEM in the middle of the screen with BUY NOW next to it, clicking on which with give you a 'SPECIAL OFFER' of gems that gives you just enough to get that ONE farm to level 25, and costs more than a typical working mans weekly wage. After not long, you realise that the only players that get anywhere in these games are whales. Rather than tainting genuine strategy, war, or RPG games with these titles, they should have a class of their own - such as 'Wait or Whale' games!

As someone who lived in China. I can tell you the reason why the "officially licenced" shows up so many times. China used to have LLLOOOOOTTs of unlicensed games being published(Such as Naruto and Bleach) and such action has pissed off the show's fans. Players also started to notice they were tricked to play these knockoff garbage so they quit and spread hate toward publisher of these games (*Reasonable*). As a result, in order to get people (from China) to play games based on any shows, game's publishers have to prove they are actually licenced to do so.

I do good for a few months, get really bored one weekend and download a few games to see which ones might be worth trying. Pick one. End up spending money. I'm a weak piece of shit, and I totally understand that it's my fault, and you can feel free to roast me for it. But it happens. I personally don't like calling it an addiction, as I feel that belittles people who have legitimately bad addictions to drugs and alcohol (or other things even), but it's definitely a compulsion that I have failed to keep in check for years. And it's not gullibility. I can even tell you how it started. I was staunch about not spending on IAPs at first, then I eventually thought, well, it's pretty selfish to assume you deserve free content, these people work for the game, they deserve something. So I started spending small amounts, and then that grew, and grew, and then suddenly I found myself in a position where I'd download a game, be like, this game seems kinda ok, and throw down a couple hundred dollars after having played it like half an hour. Again, even I know this is stupid, I hate myself when I do it, especially because after loading money in I feel the sunk cost fallacy so hard that I feel like I'm indebted to play the game even far after it's gotten boring. It's a problem, I'm trying to deal with it. But, yes, thanks for your advice.
