I think the difference between saying something to the man is that his foot was well over the line and he was much closer to the horse, it almost felt intentional on his part. Whereas the girl was much further forward and one foot was just over the line and did not seem to be intentional. At least that is how it felt to me.

The signs and the box, the lines and all of it are to try and keep everyone safe. If someone ignores all of the warnings and gets bitten or trampled, or kicked, they were warned and it it their own fault. They can't blame, or sue the Guard for their own ignoring of the warnings. The Guard is on duty to protect the grounds and people inside, not to protect tourists from themselves.

Go back about 40+ years, and one was not allowed to get so close to the horse/trooper, and there was so much less commercialisation of tourism in London (I used to live there), except on Royal occasions, so it is high time that these measures were taken to ensure everyone's safety and pleasure of observing & sharing with others. Thank you, John, for your contributions here, much appreciated to see what is going on in one of my old haunts. :)

I always try to smile and be happy no matter what. But I tell you, some people just didn't appreciate it. They would say something like, what are you smiling for. And I'd say back, 1. I'm supposed to smile as part of my job as customer service. 2. Hoping your day gets better.. Even my father is like that. He'd say, what are you smiling avpbout? Do you think that's funny? Type of comments. Sometimes I wish I could tell him, unlike you,I'm not a grouch. I can always find something to enjoy, be happy about and smile. Meaning him, not you. You are always cheerful, and laughing most times, till some idiots get stupid.
