I know you get comments about buying a new chopper but I am always impressed how you maintain your equipment. Lots of preventative maintenance and taking time to change parts before they break. Also applying paint to avoid rust. Good job

Andy, let these people know how many hundreds of pounds of milk equates to a $1200 window. This is why, we as farmers repair our own equipment if we are able. Keep plugging away, love the content

Andy you have done a fantastic job on upgrading an fixing the chopper for next year’s harvest that’s why that machine has lasted as long as it has because of your watchful eye on it and Sarah is just as careful as you when that belt broke she stopped she’s not just a driver she’s driver owner 👍🚜

Chopper is good as new now, and may bring a good price if the time comes when you buy a new one to replace this one. If not, it will feel like a new one come next chopping season.

We took the front windshield out of a 9600 deere combine we were making into a sprayer twice while we were building it. You could hit it in the center with a hammer and it probably wouldn't break. When we hit it on the edge like you did yours, it sounded like a shotgun going off and broke into a million pieces. Glue in glass is always fun. Thanks for the videos.

I worked at Komatsu and they used a yellow primer for years and then someone decided to use gray primer and that didn't hold up. So they went back to the yellow. Outsourced pieces were never cleaned or blasted and that primer wouldn't hold up without chipping.

The window breaking shit always happens to the people who work the hardest. A former employer once told me when I did something like that. That at least he knew I was doing something instead of standing around with my hands in my pocket like a few other employees.

Usually DTM,or Powder coat. Im not a real fan of powder coat.Been painting for over 30 years, and if done right you can lay down some pretty tough paint,I have painted alot of dirt car chassis, and they held up better than powder coat(not to mention they could be easily re-coated

What gets me is these keyboard warriors holler you waste a lot of money fixing that stuff but it just panels a few new bolts and a little paint and good tio to go and then panels and that work is cheaper than a new million dollar chopper when he has a good chopper Andy keeps his stuff in great shape and I’d say buildings and all the new milking stuff has put a big dent in the bank account i don’t know how they make it but best of luck to you andy

Andy, forgive my dumb question here but, is there a setting or something that tells you what size of spacer to use for that scrapper bar? Nothing like doing a little bit of PM to save the machine(s). Great video as always. Cheers :)

@FarmingFixingFabricating Thank you Andy. I've been around the older pull type choppers and don't remember if they had a scrapper bar or not. Never operated one, I always ran the old small square baler then big round baler. Raised beef cattle. Worked with my grand parents neighbor off and on, they were dairy farmers, they chopped hay.

Your back window is not a big deal. Just think of how bad it would be if you broke a front window in season while doing work on the chopper and the replacement window was on back order.

Did you ever wonder why a can of Never seize (brake lube etc) is put in a can with a small mouth and crappy brush? Why not use a wide open jar like the old Barbasol shaving cream or even a small jar like vicks vapo rub uses?

That's what I like about you… this video was: here is everything I did to the chopper, and at the end here's the piece of glass that was cracked by accident, it is what it is it's ordered and we're moving on. Anybody else on KZbin lol...... the entire video would've been about only that in a very dramatic fashion, and the thumbnail would have been a completely different picture of broken glass every place and you in the background with your hands on your head with a very surprised look on your face. Ha. Although it would be a funny joke if you did that
