I love to watch the old tractors doing their thing. The old Cat promo films are great. The good old days. No electric bullshit , no regens , no emissions , no sensors and no screaming high rpm crap . Just an old mechanical cat putting along.

1948 D4 i used a D4 since 76 as my snow plow. Considering the snow was at times touching the bottom power line, it was appropriate. And yes. I was trying to be fancy and knocked a garage off the foundation. A sledge hammer fixed it, except for the tin siding. Lol 50 yrs later. The tin is still messed up.

The snowstorm in Erie, PA, on November 30, 2024, must have been quite powerful! ❄🌨 Seeing a Caterpillar D4 at work during such heavy snow is a reminder of how essential heavy machinery is in clearing snow and keeping roads passable. The combination of a snowstorm and the D4 working to manage it would make for a dramatic sight. Stay safe and warm during such intense weather! 🏞🚜

That tractor weighs less than 14000 pounds , and weigh is spread out along the long track frame. I have a D4D and D4E SA. It’s tracks are 8” farther apart than standard gauge and has 24” pads, it floats over snow and soft and sandy ground. Great tractor, hard worker on very little fuel
