I've heard that a cheap-o alternative to an ultrasonic cleaner is to put your chain in a jar of degreaser and putting it ontop of your front-loading washer and put the wash on for a cycle. 1200rpm gives a good shake

I'm piecing together a cheap, homemade bike maintenance stand because of this video, Shane! I had been pricing new ones until I saw this. Thanks for putting it in your video.

Ultrasonic cleaner is pretty trick! Clean video, really becoming a fan of your stuff...I have to say your bike seemed cleaned to start with. One trick about tire "scars" is to seal them with super glue so that they don't grow any bigger

I bought an ultrasonic cleaner from watching the video. I found that you can fill the cleaner with hot water and then use a separate metal/glass container with degreaser to clean the parts without any noticeable loss of cleaning power. This way, I can use the cleaner for things I don't want to get degreaser on. Using it daily to clean my water bottle nozzles and glasses.

A very thorough job - well done mate! On the chain and cassette I use degreaser from Supercheap - $1.29 a can this week. Compare this to $15 a can for a chain degreaser from my local bike store, and I'm sure that it does the job just as well.

Great vlog Shane! There's something satisfying watching a bike getting cleaned =) Could you do a vlog about how you arrived at your current bike position and what you look for to get the most power and comfort? Some stats would be nice, like frame size, stem length etc.
@gplama8 жыл бұрын
I could... but it'd be disappointing. Four years ago, "yeah, you'll be about a 54". Then I made it suit what I need (narrow, and fast) with a 120mm stem and 36cm c-c bars. Done! The rest is tinkering with seat position matching it closely to the TT bike so I could do similar efforts on the roadie as the TT rig. I guess there's a post in all of that. I'll note it down. :)
@Ridingonryeandjam8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that! Interesting you arrived at 36cm width bars (much like Hanseeno) but hey it seems to work really well for you so no need to change it.

I wonder why you don't got new tires. Your tires looks more worn out than your cleats. Using a ultrasonic cleaner is a nice idea. Didn't thought about it even I used it for cleaning parts of my remote model cars.

Math plays a part in a lot of my choices. New cleats are $25. New tyres are $100+.

I could go neg 8 and remove some spacers for the same position. - Still searching for the 820! Australia is the arse end of nowhere when it comes to having nice things. At least Pokemon Go was released here before a few other places.
