@walkingwolf8072
@walkingwolf8072 Жыл бұрын
Even if a person is pro gun control they should be able to answer that question. The militia was the first line of defense for the people of the country, and the country at the time the BOR was passed. England was still a threat, and they were beat back by the militia in 1812. It was the militia at the Alamo. The militia put down rebellions, fought wars, and was used by the Union to defend the states. It is not a secret that the famous Rough Riders and Teddy Roosevelt were in fact militia. As long as every citizen does his duty, and is armed the US cannot successfully be invaded, and for this reason we the people should be armed with military weapons. It is not just a right, it is a duty.

While you are correct in saying that the primary need for an armed populace is to protect ourselves from tyrants and tyranny, it's important that people understand WHAT the 2nd Amendment is. Neither the government nor the Bill of Rights "gives" or grants any "right". Individual rights and freedoms are inherent, inalienable, and pre-exist both governments and the Constitution. The Bill of Rights SPECIFICALLY PROHIBITS government interference in those enumerated inherent and inalienable rights.

@markkozlowski3674 The first FEDERAL firearms law was passed in 1927. Called the "Miller Act", it forbade the mail-order of concealable firearms. One could still order a Thompson Sub-machinegun or Browning Automatic Rifle through the mail. The first sweeping Federal firearms laws were passed in 1934, with the passage of the National Firearms Act. Before 1927, all laws regulating firearms were state and local laws, primarily targeting Blacks. As matter of fact, many currently existing firearm laws were based on a desire to keep Blacks disarmed.

Making up verbiage excessively vague specifically to encapsulate the banning and confiscation of all firearms. Hell anyone that supports moms demand action is a communist. That idiot Gifford openly confirmed they want to ban all the firearms 😂. Hell there have been several politicians that let it slip they want to ban all firearms. Yeah they lead on “we don’t want to ban all guns, just some of them” except when there’s open instances of them basically banning all firearms, specifically the latest “assault weapons” ban in Washington state that openly bans all firearms.

Well Mr. Dettelbach, the 2nd ammendment is important because when it was written, our nations founders recognized that it is an intrinsic right of the citizenry to be armed. Whether those arms are required for self defense or in the event that the government decides to overstep is irrelevant, because the right to be armed is something we are born with and shall not be infringed. Yet as far as the bill of rights goes both the 1st and 2nd have as of late been routinely infringed upon, the latter moreso than the former, but the infringement of any rights is damaging to this nation

So cmon I'm genuinely curious as to how firearms for self defense, or blowing the head off of tyrant is obsolete, because dunno of you're aware but if someone comes at you or breaks into your home threatening you with a gun, telling them it's obsolete in this day and age just means you get shot after saying something retarded
