You saw the defects of Ben Simmons four years ago. You saw the defects of Markelle Fultz four years ago. Neither player has actually improved enough to justify being paid more than 10 million a year, but they are getting paid that and more. They're not shooters, so, they should not be paid at the highest level. They're good players and nothing more, which means pay them the average or slightly above and you're okay with whatever they give you in performance. There are a lot of better players that deserve the salary Simmons is getting, because they can shoot from distance, can shoot free throws, and aren't afraid to get fouled.

Been saying this since he was drafted: Ben Simmons is just tall. He's a 6'10" mismatch against every point guard not named Luka. He doesn't have any real skill. If you're that tall, you should be able to get layups, dunk, and have decent defense against smaller guards but everything that requires work to develop skill (ball handling, shooting, free throws) he's mediocre to trash level.

The scary thing is lots of teams will take Simmons. Many people think a PGs role is only to "set up" others and they like guys who pass up shots. I can't believe they rejected Harden for this bum. They would have to trade him as part of a monster package just to get rid of him & throw in someone they initially felt was untradeable for someone to bite.
