As a black person, the one thing that drew me to SAMCRO was Jax Tellers fashion. He could've been a regular biker with the traditional fitted jeans and biker boots BUT this dude rocks baggy pants and Nike Airforce Ones. That's aspect alone is a draw. Charlie Hunman modelled his look after a biker who loved hip hop culture and sadly was killed before the airing of the show. Charlie took on his mannerisms and style in honour of him and wore a bullet necklace as homage to him throughout.

There's more sweeping statements here than an amateur dramatic production of Cinderella. Gemma is awful and interferes throughout and I'm not sure she's anyone's favourites. I'm with you on the dumb choices and your nod to Juice, he is the king of dumb choices. I like this video. Well done, mostly 😉 Best finale ever. Starts with Springsteen, ends with Come Join the Murder. Outstanding. Plus, Tig finds love. Don't ask why they kill Half Sack. Don't ask about Hale. I don’t see how Gemma was peoples favorite character in the show, i hated gemma since the beginning and in the end she was the catalyst for jax’s downfall. Everything bad that happened most of the time was because of Gemma, she had too much influence for being just an old lady. Worst character in the show IMO.

She did a good acting. She didn't care if she was liked or hated. She knew exactly who she was & how much influence she had over 2 high ranking members. Her Husband and her Son. All the members respected who she was. The town of CHARMING - new who she was - she knew how to influence people from locals - to members & law enforcement & she knew alot of club business. Was the show far fetched - absolutely- but for it'd time - it was a great show. I think it should off ended differently- it wasn't a comedy - it was a DRAMA - & it ended in tragedy.

Really enjoy the video and appreciate you taking the time to make it, given you were definitely right about no one doing a serious, full series review/retrospective on SoA. Even with the goofiness and, let's face it, subpar writing some of the time, it's still a great show. Let's just not get too hyped up and throw out the "better than the Sopranos" take so confidently lol. Can't tell someone their opinion is wrong, and that's totally not what I'm saying.. just that if one were to pick certain aspects of each series and really compare them fairly and without bias in terms of overall execution, one is going to come out on top every time.. and let's just say that Jax would surely want to introduce someone to Mister Mayhem after getting the news 😅😅 But, again, in all seriousness.. great video.

Thanks. It's...a tough call in some ways. I would like to do my take on The Sopranos at some point. I'm trying to review things that don't get as much of a spotlight and The Sopranos certainly does get the spotlight on KZbin. But for now, in response to this comment, I will say that although I appreciate the maturity of the themes in The Sopranos and how much detail was put into the placement of those themes in the show, I think SoA was a better SCRIPTED show. I started watching in S3 at the time and it became my favorite, but i'd agree S7 is the best. I gotta say the hole series is great, not that much re-watchable since things take A LOT of time to happen, specially in later seasons with episodes one hour long. I'd recommend to anyone who likes crime series, because it's one of the best in the genre. But as much as i consider being one of my favorite shows, it's one of the most violent i've seen. I remember being traumatized by S2E1 and what happens to Gemma, and by S7 they don't pull any punches. But then again, it's one of those shows where they show people getting blown, beaten till death and assaulted, but saying ''Fuck'' is a big no-no.

Season 5 is maybe my favorite season due to the Introduction of Nero and Damon Pope. Nero is hands down the greatest casting addition the series ever got next to Ron Perlman and Katey Sagal. The second time I saw the scene on steaming I was swearing up and down that the original broadcast version of the scene was longer and more painful to watch. To this day I don’t know if that was actually the case or me just misremembering it but god damn what a powerful scene.

I love this review, and yes this show needs more analysis like this about. It's my favorite show of all time and despite how popular AND well criticized it was, it doesnt get mentioned for best shows ever like Sopranos or Breaking Bad, even though I'd argue that not only should it be, it might be BETTER, because as you stated, it actually keeps its momentum the entire time and its BEST moments are at the end, instead of the last seasons being weird or stupid like most others. One thing I disagree with you on I like Tara. Alot. And the reasons you dont are VERY understandable. But it's a clear reminder of exactly what you highlighted back in season 3. She wasn't supposed to be apart of this life. Never was. She doesn't have the street smarts, nor the ruthlessness, to properly survive here. She didn't kill Salazar, even though she CLEARLY should have LOL, because she never wanted to. She didn't want to hurt anyone. And just like you pointed out, the longer she was there, the crazier she became. Season 5 Tara was ridiculous, plotting that fake pregnancy was INSANE, and the fallout is exactly what it should have been. And yet when she dies at the end of season 6......you still feel terrible. Because you know despite everything, she was a good soul that didn't deserve what happened.

While watching the second season of Mayhans, EZ and Angel let Happy live after finding out that he was the one who killed their mother. This blows my mind, and then when I finally watched the SOA, I see that Kurt Sutter had already did something like that in his previous work when he makes it where Oppie is okay with the fact that Clay and Tig killed his wife Donna. Kurt Sutter is one crazy Good writer , so good that he gets himself fired from his own show because he does that joke about Jews, Hitler, and Walt Disney! After Disney merged with Fox they fired his ass. LoL hahaha PS:. After finally watching the first episode of SOA, I have since watched the entire 7 seasons two different times. Oppie getting killed was only, the second time that I cried during a TV show. The first time was at the very end of old yeller, back in 1975 when I was only 5'years old.

I totally agree that the final season was the crescendo, and in that way, the best of the show. I found the series dragged on a bit too long, and the over the top chaos the club was getting away with began to strain my willful suspension of disbelief. I think that once Opie died, which was great TV for sure and a 🔥 moment, marked a downhill stretch and there were more noticeable layers of cheese to some of the characters interactions and stuff. I really enjoyed the episode where they finally killed Clay though. The final season was marked with so many great moments and performances and monologues, it really brought it all home and I'm so glad Jax didn't get to ride off in the sunset. He was a destructive and deadly albeit sympathetic moron blinded and manipulated by his mother, the true Gus Fring of the whole show. Underrated TV. Never have seen "Mayans". Should I?

Excellent storytelling and editing. I didn't watch SOA when it aired, too much life shit going on to sit still. I bought the whole series and binged a while back. I agree with most of your opinions on the storylines. I did think Tara's and Wendy's characters were too weak to fill the role as the future SOA President 's woman no matter who he ended up with. I wish the ending wasn't so final.

I thought the father being black was a stupid story to get Juice to turn. I get it they needed something to cause drama to build up to something else but could have done it in a different way. Neo's sister story arc, made me feel like Neo and his sister had more then a sister brother relationship. Tara somethings made no sense with her and somethings did. I didn't hate Tara's character though. Just why fake a pregnancy to get heat on Gemma was stupid and Jax forgiving her, was about as stupid as Juice's black father getting him to turn
@theplebe6342 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely agree, these were all dumb plot points. They could've gotten Juice to turn some other way. Like maybe some kinda bust that would've put him away for like 40 years or something.
@pauljamilkowski36722 жыл бұрын
Whole heartedly agree about how dumb season 3's Ireland plot and Juice becoming a rat were Season 4 REALLY upped the ante of this show for me. Getting dragged into the cartel business was what really made things interesting
@evanpenn1 Жыл бұрын
Agreed, one of the greatest shows of all time. The violence could be over-the-top at times and I thought the ending was contrived and not believable. But overall, amazing. Sometimes when I'm just walking down the street, I wonder why I can't walk more like Jax 😂

I love Tara, she does make some dumb decisions, but everyone does... Doctors know a lot about medicine, but besides that they are as prone to stupidity as the rest of us. To me Season 3 is far better than season 4, including the Belfast arc... I do agree with you on everything else. Thanks for doing this video.

Just finished my second rewatch of SOA and its one of the best if not the best shows I've ever watched. The only storyline i wasn't a fan of was the whole juice getting blackmailed about having a black dad. It felt drawn out. Season 3s finale was fantastic and made up for the drawn out abel plot.

This show is not nearly as good as The Sopranos and Breaking Bad, I’m not sure what makes you say that. I mean I get it if you like it more but what exactly is better from this show than those? This show was also heavily inspired by The Shield (Kurt Sutter was a writer on that show and almost the entire main cast has appearances on this show) which totally that obliterates it in every way. That show truly does dramatic irony or the secret things you mention the best. I’m not saying this show isn’t good, or even great at times, but its not on the level of top tier shows IMO, and The Shield executed so many of these things way better. That show also constantly escalated and ends amazingly arguably at its peak. I’m kinda shocked you praised the later seasons and ending so much when most people would say the show fell off. It just got progressively less believable, needlessly over extended and edgy to the point of absurdity. Glad you enjoyed it so much though thought it was better in the earlier seasons though.
@theplebe63422 жыл бұрын
I'm watching The Shield right now and will probably review it at some point down the line. The Sopranos and Breaking Bad are great shows. But what you are saying about SOA falling off in the later seasons...I think The Sopranos and Breaking Bad are prime examples of shows dropping the ball in the final season. And I'd much rather watch a show that gets a little weak in the middle than one that absolutely blows it in its final season. Also, The Sopranos had a terrible ending, which will always prevent it from topping a lot of other shows I've seen.
@EddyTheMartian2 жыл бұрын
@@theplebe6342 Wow that’s crazy since most people say BB S5 is the best and they love the ending. I actually think Felina isn’t the best ending but the overall final season is one of the best. I’m honestly curious to hear your thoughts as to why. As for The Sopranos, a lot of people would call S6 the weakest and a lot of people do dislike the finale, but I personally couldn’t disagree more. I think S6 is not only the best season of the show but one of the best seasons of TV ever (Top 3 after The Wire S4 and The Shield S5 for me). I didn’t like it as much on first watch but on rewatch I thought the finale was genius and it’s one of my favorites now. I do also prefer shows to end strongly even if it means having a weaker middle, but I’m honestly surprised you feel that was about SOA lmao, I like to hear unique perspectives though lol. I hope you’re enjoying The Shield, I’ll be patiently waiting for the review, hopefully you don’t think it falls off 💀 I mean I’d say it’s almost impossible IMO its build up and final run of eps is unmatched, but you also think Breaking Bad dropped the ball so idk lmao.

I loved the first few seasons of this show. But for me the moment this show died was when a certain character died in season 5. I won’t say to avoid spoilers but after that everything went down hill for me with this show. And I honestly couldn’t watch it again if I tried

The low hanging fruit comment about Jax is one of the best observations about the series as a whole. This one long turn may be what makes this series unique. The viewer sees the long swirling downturn for seasons but it suddenly gets ripped away.
@NolanHawkeyeAnthony11 ай бұрын
I agree that it is better than Breaking Bad, but it’s not clearly better than The Sopranos. The Sopranos was masterfully written with beautiful plots, character arcs and much more and a wonderful insight into the legitimate underworld of society. Also, the time that the sopranos is written is at a critical point in mafias storied history as most monsters were trying to live the American dream as well
@raymondsims70426 ай бұрын
I have the opposite opinion I think breaking bad is slightly better than SOA, but SOA is slightly better than sopranos. Can’t go wrong with any of the three though all are excellent shows

I like that the show always started each season at the end of the summer. They would start showing trailers by MID JULY - getting people excited for the start of each season. It was a great idea for a show - instead of a mafia style show - they tried to show you how the culture of motorcycle club life is. Little known fact is that HBO shot a pilot called 1%ER - & it was taking place in ARIZONA- with DONAL LOUGE as the lead character - a biker known as MISFIT - that is sent to a club chapter in ARIZONA - from CALIFORNIA- to shape up the chapter. SONNY BARGER felt HBO was taking to much from his own personal life & using it on the show - he threatened HBO with legal action & HBO never picked it up. Funny thing is DONAL LOUGE became a character on SOA - as did SONNY BARGER. CHUCK ZITO also says he was writing a show about CLUB LIFE - I am not sure what happened with that - but CHUCK ZITO was also used in S.O.A. THE HBO SERIES WAS SET TO DEBUT SOMETIME AFTER THE SOPRANOS ENDED. I WOULD THINK HBO WOULD OF MADE A PRETTY GOOD SHOW ABOUT THE CULTURE OF THE MC WORLD. THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW SHOWS ABOUT MC CULTURE. THE LAST CHAPTER WAS A CANADIEN SHOW FROM 2002/2003 I BELIEVE- WITH 2 - 6 EPISODE SEASONS - LOOSELY BASED ON THE H.As in CANADA. IT WAS OK DEFINITELY NOT AS GOOD AS S.O.A - IT WAS THE ONLY TV SERIES TO BE SHOT IN BOTH ENGLISH & FRENCH. ANOTHER SHOW WAS CALLED BIKIES BROTHER IN ARMS - A MINI SERIES ABOUT CLUB LIFE IN AUSTRALIA & HOW THERE WAS A CRAZY SHOOTOUT AT A SWAP MEET FOR MCs. 1 OTHER SHOW - GANGLAND UNDERCOVER - TELLS THE STORY OF CHARLES FALCO - AN INFORMANT WHO INFILTRATED THE VAGOS IN CALIFORNIA- THEN GOING INTO WITSEC & RELOCATING TO VIRGINIA & USED AGAIN TO INFILTRATE THE OUTLAWS. IT WAS 2 SEASONS & IT WAS OK. WORTH WATCHING.

Re: Tara - My Man! Hell yes. Spoiler free comments ahead: Her best moment was in the bathroom with Jax. All downhill from there, with one exception. Sitting across from Gemma, giving her the strength she needed to just talk. Apart from that she was plot convenience girl, which made her dumb as hell, and it sucked.
