That said, if it's not hunting season, and you are grocery shopping at 1600, why should it be frowned upon to wear camouflage? I feel the same applies to wearing an S.O.A. cut. It's not a real club. It represents no actual values aside from Television show fandom. But yet, people feel the need to be offended. If anything, it exemplifies what a douchebag that person is. And those that are real should just laugh at it for what it is. Using some cry-bully tactic about how offended you are that this person who doesn't have the scruples to be in a 'real' club is just sad. Perhaps, but it still is a TV show and people sometimes like to wear something based off a form of entertainment they like to further support the show. Because it's a TV show of course there is merchandising involved with merchandise like a SOA vest. I saw one on hottopic once. If they know it's just a TV show and the someone is wearing some official merchandise based off of the TV show then it shouldn't be rude or disrespectful. Unless the guy got a vest and put on patches posing as a member of an actual MC club, there is no reason for that nonsense at all. If that's how they are gonna feel about it then maybe they should get on the company for producing the actual merchandise in the first place, rather than beating up a kid for wearing something based off a show he loved.

I'm Watching this video three years after it was posted, and I have to say that here in Brazil (yeah, I'm brazilian) we have the same issue. People buying Sons of Anarchy vests, Mayans vests, even Mongrels (Days Gone) vests. Some people don't like that, because they know all the trouble and all the work you have to go through to earn your patches. To those people, it doesn't seem fair that some dude just buy his collors, while they have to go through all the steps in a real MC to get their own. And that makes them think they're better than the kid who just bought his brand new SoA vest on e-bay and is trying to have a good time ona bike. I was one of those people once. Now that I'm older, I understand it. People have a lot of problems in their lives: at home, at school, at college, at work, in their relationships, with their neighbours... They're just trying to relax by doing something they like. But unfortunetly, we live in the age of nagging, and nowadays, everything is offensive, and everyone is too sensitive and have their feelings hurt all the time. Well, guess what: REAL BIKERS DON'T GIVE A SH*T. We allways had freedom as the ultimate objective in our lives. But who the f*ck we think we are to not let other people be free as well? For people who say real bikers think SOA is shit.... I've been on Harley's my whole life and at age 50 I don't see that changing any time soon. But any way I love the show. I grew up hanging out with a club called the Saints here in the Midwest. Not to mention there are 4 very real biker in SOA. The guy who plays "Happy" I can't think of his name but he's a real life patch holder of the most well known club in world, the Hells Angels. As is Rusty Coones And Chuck Zito. Even the long time Club Prez of the Hells Angels , Sonny Barger was in the show.

Every Outlaw MC wears the same Uniform/Cut....black leather. They ALL have the same Rockers....just different names on em. They ALL wear the same patches....again, just different words on a few. They ALL have the same motto.... ____ Forever-Forever _____ just fill in the blanks with the name of the MC. They ALL put their "Brothers" above all else...including their actual family. Personally, I tend to believe ALL Outlaw MC's are a bunch of Man/Child's with latent homosexual tendencies who love nothing more than spending time with their "Bro's"..... hugging & kissing each other with every greeting & good bye. you know, I think all that club drama is kind of bullshit anyway. I've been riding for 30 years. it doesn't make me a better biker, it makes me more experienced, but some people don't even learn with experience. I don't ride a Harley. I don't have anything against anybody who rides a Harley. what I do have a problem with our people who think that they're better because they ride Harleys. I ride a badass Honda VTX 1800. that's a 110 cubic inch stroker monster! and it's a fun ride, but anybody with any considerable riding experience can ride it safely with a little practice. it would be really nice if riding a motorcycle didn't make you a badass, but a person who likes to ride motorcycles. being in a club has its benefits. but, in my experience, the purpose of a lot of those clubs is to promote fear and intimidation. they say that they are creating an environment of respect, but real respect doesn't come from fear and intimidation. it comes from the good things that people do, and not being a douchebag. what Sons of Anarchy did was promote the outlaw lifestyle. so now all these kids come out here, get there first motorcycle, and think that they have to prove what a badass they are. So they do stupid shit. if there's anything that Sons of Anarchy did, it was to promote the stupidity that people already think the clubs do. and suddenly, everybody wants a three-piece patch on their back. why can't we all just ride? if I see a biker on the road somewhere, and they need help, I don't care if they've got a patch or not, I'm going to help them. That's the biker Brotherhood. but we need to come to the understanding that riding a bike does not make you a bad ass. and just because it's loud, or painted black, does not make you a badass. and neither does watching a show.

I've been riding for 32 years. I became infatuated with bikes while watching CHiPs and classic biker movies as a youngster. I was taught how to ride by members of a motorcycle club, and was brought into adulthood by a club of bilkers who taught me the importance of loyalty, honesty and brotherhood. That being said, I must admit that watching SOA was a guilty pleasure of mine and several other members of my M/C. Yeah, there was a lot of B.S. and it's far from reality, but it was a masculine soap opera that hadn't been seen before -- and that shit is addictive! I remember being at a biker bar in the 80s on Wednesday nights watching Dynasty and rooting for Crystal or Alexis as they wrestled in the fountain! So, as long as you take it for what it is: "Entertainment", than I see no issues with it -- afterall, it is a re-write of Shakespeare's "The Tempest". Ride safe!

So an old drug called crank got it's name from being carried in the crankshaft of a hells angels bike. In the old days the bike clubs acted just like son's of anarchy. The hells angels wasn't donating money and helping old ladies cross the road back in the day. They was running drugs and guns etc etc. I know this for fact because my grandfather was one of those type. Lived in Cali grew up in bikes had a hells angels vest.

As a youngster during the early 80's 'CHiPs' inspired my love of motorcycling, cheesiness aside. Also seeing Steve McQueen in 'The Great Escape' one of my Dad's favorite movies.

Been on 2 wheels for 40 yrs, and deep in the culture for almost as long..but always indy........Anyway, you spoke a lot of truth. I also think it depends on what state/where you are wearing the SOA cut. Here in Tucson there are a number of well known 3 patch clubs. An SOA cut will be basically ignored, the same as those who decide to where the "lone wolf" patch. As long as it's not trying to resemble a 3 patch cut (for those who don't know..top and bottom rocker w/center patch- and especially an MC patch) it's pretty much ignored in these parts. Always good vids.. Thanks.

I understand getting mad if they had the same patch as you and were not in the club...but just wearing a motorcycle vest is considered offensive? huh? Also does this apply to vintage jacking/clothing? I for instance have a few WW2 bomber jackets with patches on them...I never flew in ww2, but that should be pretty obvious since im 30 right? :P im not trying to represent myelf as a bomber pilot obviously, the jackets just look cool as hell, its a fashion statement...

When I was about 17 I was riding a mountain bike up a very long stretch of road. I stopped into what’s now my go to motorcycle shop just to use the bathroom an fill up my water bottle. There I saw my first DRZ400...it was sitting in my garage 4 days later an I’ve been riding motorcycles ever since 😂🤷♂️

It’s nice to know I’m not crazy for my reaction to SOA. I’d feel like myself joining that club, I’d sit down with them as they’d go “okay we’ve got this person to kill, this gun deal to do, btbubs, one of You has to go to jail for life...” Me: “ dude, I just wanted to hang out and talk about motorcycles, crazy and funny stories about what happened that one time, and ride motorcycles... I can’t ride motorcycles if I’m IN JAIL! Or dead, or being shot at!”
@kaidenblackburn8744 жыл бұрын
yeah i agree with you, the only reason i think it would be fun to be in a gang is to ride ( maybe a little faster than the speed limit ) and talk and have fun inside the law. Hell's Angels is a patriotic gang and i would join if they weren't so violent and involved in drugs and stuff.

I retired to the Philippines after my time in the army. And was in Angeles city Pampanga not long ago and saw a guy wearing the Sons of anarchy cut. I started laughing at him. He asked me what I was laughing at. I told him his fake cut. He tried to tell me it was a real club and he was a member. I laughed harder. Well he didn't like it much but didn't do anything about it. Crazy shit in this world.

SOA wasn't really about motorcycles. It was a crime drama. They rarely show the bikes but for brief flashes. Nobody sitting around talking about bikes. When my buddies and I are sitting around shooting the shit, our bikes are a major topic of conversation. Hell, my life revolves around my bike in many ways.

So is it disrespectful for me to dress up like superman because I'm not the same superman from the movies? Seriously it's not disrespectful to wear a SOA vest.....at all. They aren't trying to imitate bikers who have gone through things to be able to wear their cut. They are very much aware that it's just a tv show. And no real biker is going to think that the person is trying to imitate them based off merchandise from a tv show. If I wear a Austin 3:16 shirt it doesn't mean I'm trying to be like stone cold steve austin. The whole idea of a vest based off a tv show being disrespectful makes about as much sense as someone being offended because their gender was assumed.

For me it was riding on the back with my dad as a kid. He had an old Yamaha. It was the most fun ever. It was the wind on my face and the feeling leaning around corners that got me. The “biker image” means zero to me.

I met a few riders from SOA around Tampa, just got back from Plant City and got drenched, Told SOA about the hvy rains east of us and they were glad I told'em, they were pretty good to me, hangin' out under a bridge staying dry, talkin about bikes. . .it was a nice day.

First, someone that digs scifi and fantasy and rides, are you my long lost brother? Good vid. I'm a vet and prefer to ride alone or with a few good friends. I have to say I find it funny that SOA provoked the local military base's 40+ clubs in the wrong way. Yep, 5-6 guys watched the show and donned a patch. What these GI's forgot is that they already have a brotherhood in the military so why reinvent the wheel. There's a saying that always comes to mind "Everyone's an outlaw till it's time for outlaw shit to be done." When we see these guys out and about we always laugh and holler "Wild Hogs". Besides that was a way better show. All jokes aside you don't need a patch to signify anything when you already know who your real friends are. Only thing that matters is that people get in the wind.

Leather Guru I wholeheartedly agree. There is a local group of riders. They mostly come from a veteran background. Anyone can join. They are about as outlaw as Sunday bingo. I'm sure there are a few with criminal backgrounds. So what! last year they raised a shit ton of money for toys for tots and then turned around and did another charity ride for a local fireman's son who had a rare for of cancer. Yeah they have their leathers and their cut. They got some club rules. You can join them if you ride a metric bike or a harley or a sport bike they don't care. They sponsor safety courses for people who might not be able to afford it. They are a great group of guys. Are they a M.C. ? I guess they are. Are they a bad bunch of guys? no. They do the Patriot guard. I'm sure, if any moron from that church that cheers when vets die, would ever show up . They might get curb stomped. The M.C. would probably have to get behind every other person in my town to get a swing in though.
