The thing is with the Tryout Duel is it's not even the OCG equivalent of Edison; it's essentially Over the Nexus format (as in the game on the DS which has the exact same cardpool and banlist). Having said that, even doing the OCG equivalent of Edison would still be a very different experience, as that time, they had stuff like Trishula around.

Rush is good but then all the yugiboomers cry about it; despite it being more like what they want. Then you have the duel links community and I get both sides of the argument specifically there, but, duel links has the problem where if you want a Rush Duel specific account you struggle more with the Speed events and vice versa unless you’re lucky or willing to spend money. I’d love them to add Rush to master duel. It would be neat to play the official version in PVP. Granted, the amount of cards that aren’t even in duel links yet and my experience with the original abandoned switch game… I can speak Japanese but I don’t know all of the yugioh terminology. I know some of it. I could get the Japanese exclusive sequel. But that also has the problem of the yugioh games having really bad grindy sessions to get the cards to make a competent deck and for some reason my switch game isn’t showing me all of the cards in my trunk when I try to make a deck. I don’t think it’s because you can’t have the same card in multiple decks but that would be about right…

The part of the effect that says it destroys all link monsters it points to is complete anime convenience by the way because the only time it mattered is when someone *stole* judgement arrows with a card and used it against lightning and extra links him, but then lightning draws the stupidest out imaginable (a card that banishes a monster then puts it in a different zone, to break the extra link), then destroys judgement to break the entire link board.

Ocean of Regeneration is peak Graydle support. Alligator effect applies on pop. So normal gator > pop with impact > link 1 or do whatever with the first stolen card > Ocean of Regeneration > Link 2 or let it pop to steal another card.

Tengu was the sneak peak participation card for EXVC so I knew it was a TCG exclusive since the sneak participation cards during that time were always TCG exclusives. I actually went through the trouble to get three copies of the UR printing back then since its normally an SR in the set.

I played a lot of the master duel 2010 format. It was a very nice change of pace. I’m hoping regardless of whether we get future tcg or ocg time wizard style events we just get more of them. I do wish it was just tcg Edison though. I think it’s just a more balanced card pool than what we got. That said I don’t think most people understood the kinds of decks that they should be playing. I saw a few interesting brews but most people were playing hero, or a pile that would look more at home in 2006 then in 2010. So regardless of the format that should have existed people were playing whatever they wanted regardless of viability. I was playing a weakened teledad brew. Triple dark grepher and Armageddon knight plus a stratos package makes for a very consistent turn 1.

There's still the problem of needing your scales to not get blown up by disruptions (or Ghost Ogre if they have effects you need to resolve) so you can actually make your plays. But it's a start. Even funnier would be if the Judgement Arrow zones all got turned into EMZs that replaced their respective MMZs while out, leading to silly techs in Mathmech, Runick and Sky Striker.

I'm glad we don't have rush duels. That game is a fucking joke, and it would compete for precious shelf space with actual Yu-Gi-Oh. It also fractures the playerbase. Making it even harder for shops to actually get enough players to even have a locals. It's just all around a bad idea. Also the cards just look fucking terrible. They don't look like Yu-Gi-Oh cards. I look at rush duel cards and all I see is Cardfight Vanguard. It's garbage.
