Using our Peterbilt 389X with a Miller Industries, Century 1150R rotator to winch out a truck with a loaded trailer that attempted to turn around and kind of made a mess of some landscaping. No injuries, other than the landscaping and maybe a little pride. As always, we are there to help, not make the situation worse. We do not make fun of or belittle the drivers, who are already having a bad day. Please keep the comment polite and respectful. Thanks for watching and God bless.

I wrote this in the video description, but some are not heeding my request. Everyone, myself included, makes mistakes. I'm certain this driver learned from this situation. I know that I try learn from my mistakes. My videos are about the job of HELPING others and figuring out how to solve problems. I do not belittle the drivers or the companies. Please keep negative commentary to yourself. This is a positive, family-friendly channel. Please help me keep it that way. Thanks for watching and God bless.

Question. Had she properly dealt with the damage to the small truck before she tried to leave the parking lot or not? Hitting the rock and truck and getting stuck trying to get out are all mistakes, possibly avoidable, but still mistakes. Driving off and leaving that small truck damaged without properly dealing with it is something else.

I had something similar happen to me when I was at 7 years driving. The secondary driveshaft that connects the front set of rear axles to the second set of rear axles shattered. I could still drive but I lost most of my power so I only had power to like, one side of one axle. I had a repair place close by but I decided to stay in a hotel room for the day because it was like, noon on a Sunday and they wouldn't be open until the following morning. The hotel had a large dirt lot next door and I called to ask if I could park in there and they said yea, semi's park in there all the time. Cool. Well, when I went to get in because I had lost most of my drive power I got stuck. No damage to anything but I was half in the roadway. I found some dude in an f350 utility truck and we just threw a chain to my DOT bumper and he yoinked me out real quick. Luckily I was empty!

After almost 30 years of driving, one of the earliest lessons I learned was. Never try to take a truck into a parking lot that's not meant for trucks. This is one of the number one reasons, so many drivers get themselves in trouble. They want to go to a local restaurant or a shopping center..etc.. just stick to places that are meant for trucks to park and you will have a lot less problems

I have property in an urban area. About every couple of weeks something is torn up or damaged. The security cameras always show what happened and it's usually a "hit and run" from a truck or trailer. Yeah, I know, it's just property damage and nobody gets hurt. Still, someone has to pay for the repair. I've seen two occasions where the driver has pro-actively stepped up and asked how to make it right. In those cases, our response is always "don't worry about it. Thanks for letting us know." But if we have to contact the company, the tone of conversation is a bit different.

Back in mid 70s I was the service mgr at a known company, I got a call from the service , if I could call one of our drivers , he went to load up from one of those REALLY SLOPING DOCKS, there was water there when he pulled up , but the skies opened up, so much that the straight truck engine was NOW UNDER WATER , I did pick him up @a diner , soaking wet as he walked a 1/2 mile in the rain , This is the kind of place water can FREEZE in winter , having rear wheels in it before it froze , They do not seem to make loading docks that way anymore . Cheers From NJ USA 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

@@Bjd79 I used to work at a place where they had a sloping dock (a loading pit as we called it). In winter, trucks would have a difficult time to get out of it, but a bucket full of sand and/or salt spread by hand worked wonders for friction.

Maybe not as dramatic as some of your videos but an epic heartwarming display of kindness and compassion for someone having a seriously bad day. And we all have them. You put your faith and trust in her, winching her back and trusting she would break and not roll into the back of your truck, then going under to release the slidey thing (can you tell I'm not a truck driver lol) and finally helping her to get clear. She must have felt wretched by the time you arrived, confidence lost, doubting her own ability, feeling guilty and stupid, possibly incapable of a single positive thought. She probably got some grief from the property curator and owner of the truck, can't really blame them, you would get angry at someone tearing up your yard and smacking your vehicle. But your actions probably gave back some of her confidence, allowed her to say "I can do it", and to put this experience down to one of those "everything that could go wrong did go wrong" moments which, thankfully, are usually pretty rare. Thank you to the lady for being human and thank you Ron for showing us how to be part of the solution not part of the problem. Take care, and be safe. Poo

I go out of my way to help truckers do their thing, on the road and otherwise.. especially those monster interstate rigs that have no business in tight spaces. Once found a huge rig similar to this one pinned in a precarious L turn in the back of a Costco lot. The only way out was a reversing three point turn down a car parking lane, then back out the way he came.. cars all over the place, trees on the islands.. he was stuck in there for sure. I've never driven a big rig outside my workplace dock doors, mule work.. but I mastered trailer maneuvering while still a teenager, boats and such. I stayed there with that man for hours helping him back around that store as a ground spotter.. made my day :-)

Having a spotter is like hitting a Goldmine jackpot. And people should never forget we all start somewhere so don't be hard on her because I have a feeling it was also dark when she did got herself stuck. It's one thing I love with earning a Germany driver license where you pay $3000 for it but also are mandated to drive , City, Interstate, Daytime, Night time and Highway for a total of 40h where you learn how a tandem rig or box trailer works. Just as a Car driver put yourself into your shoes with your car and add a trailer which is 25' long it will give you a feeling how a big rig is been operated. We all have to start at zero and good for her she stopped when she got stuck lightly and didn't dig herself in deeper. Thank you again Ron for this nice video.
