Yes, FNAF 3 takes place 30 years after the events of FNAF 1. However, shortly after the closing of the FNAF 1 location, wether it be days or weeks we aren’t sure, William Afton puts on the spring Bonnie suit in a attempt to escape the dead children’s ghosts, resulting with accidentally spring locking himself. The room he was spring locked in was sealed off for 30 years, and since FNAF 1 takes place in 1993, this results with FNAF 3 taking place in 2023. You are correct that Tom was wrong about the lore, but for the wrong reasons. Hope this helped!
