This is one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands. I absolutely love Zeppelin's acoustic songs and Jimmy Page's playing on their acoustic material was a huge influence on me as a guitarist.
This song is a bit tricky to play and sing at the same time, which surprised me because it's a relatively simple song in its structure. The challenge is the timing of that repetitive chord progression which is frequently off-sync with the vocal melody and doing the two together is rather like patting your head and rubbing your belly at the same time. It took some practicing and was exciting when I finally got it down. The other challenge was keeping that chord progression steady and chugging along while singing emotionally.

I grew up in Los Angeles in the 60s and 70s. I saw LZ twice at the Forum - as a freshman in HS (1972) and as a senior (1977). The concert in 1977 got delayed several times because one of the members was in a traffic accident resulting in a broken bone and I think another delay because one of the members child had died.

Very impressive. Some of those chords are tricky alone, never mind singing over them. Also props for keeping the vocal melody aligned with the Zep III version. When played live Plant always went "DOWWWWNNNNnnnnn" which always broke the mood for me. That's also one heck of a guitar you're playing there.

When Jimmy puts on different tunings it means having to learn some new patterns and you did it very well. I loved it. Especially the outro with the runs up the fretboard and the fancy chords. Now that is not easy.

And yes… to get my cadence on point (strumming w/lyrics) and on beat - it’s a MUST to review your vocals and ‘how’ you sync effortlessly with this Led Zeppelin classic! BTW…Zeppelin III is my Fav(Physical Graffiti is a close second)! I still remember the day my friend (from my hometown), layed the stylus down (as my ears and emotions were moved by Zeppelin III) on that vinyl as a teenager… My life shifted that moment - For all things musically GOOD!
