The revelation at the end of season 2 that Gillian and Jimmy had sex makes every scene with him and her more interesting because you can tell he is always uncomfortable with her. He has been inside his own mother, sexually, and that image floats across his brain every time he sees her, every time he hears her voice, every time he thinks about her. It’s got to be a tough life to live with that always in the back of your mind.

I liked him as the character but horrible actor with learning the lines, the actual making of the show and dealing with other actors. But I think his performance was dry but it worked perfect for the WWI vet
