Your mom is absolutely right, the characters in Zoey 101 are all such bullies (especially Zoey’s feminist self). They always made Logan seem like he was some villain. And they were such fake friends to Quinn and Logan. Like in the Beach episode, they used Quinn up, but then tossed her aside as that weird girl who lives alone every other time. The using was definitely present in the Robot Wars episode, when she was helping them make the robot and Logan made a joke about her and all her “friends” laughed. And only realized they were wrong when Quinn heard, even tried blaming it all on Logan. After Quinn calls them out, Ms. Feminism decides to throw a pillow at Logan and makes him fall as if she wasn’t laughing. And they use Logan for his money, onceZoey used him for his brain in the tutoring chemistry episode. At first Zoey calls Logan an idiot when the teacher says he is her tutor, but Logan ended up helping Zoey out anyway, and they both said how embarrassing it would be so he lied to Chase and told him that he and Zoey were dating. Then they got “revenge” on Logan by putting a mouse in his pants and all of the friends gathered around and laughed about it...like that’s so unnecessary and shows how ungrateful Zoey is. She could’ve easily told Logan that she told them the truth and that she wants him to admit that they aren’t dating and he was just tutoring her.

This is most likely because I never listened to Britney Spears growing up, but I honestly didn't know they were making fun of her in that Ginger Fox episode. I always thought they were making fun of Ke$ha (which still would've been messed up, tbh). It didn't take me until Sl04N's video that I realized it was Britney Spears that iCarly was making fun of... 😬 I agree! That episode didn't age well. Creepy feet Dan worked with Jamie Lynn Spears and then made fun of Britney Spears and her mental health years later??? That is messed up! Honestly, it has gotten to the point where I stopped watching iCarly on my Netflix because the gross stuff in practically every episode is getting really annoying. You hit every point about why kids need better media and why millennials and gen z shouldn't be demonized for calling out all kinds of hatred and problematic things. And you're right about corporations also playing a big part in allowing problematic shows on their streaming services, yet they love to do performative activism. I'm partially to blame because I did let my feel-good nostalgia of watching iCarly get in the way of realizing all the shit Dan has done to the actors working with him on these shows. @@feliciaroseantonia That comment that Carly made also made it seem like girls are ugly and shocking if they don't shave under their arms. Ryan Murphy's shows drive me nuts with the bullying, the scripts usually have characters make fun of other characters using aspects of the actors' physical appearances as nasty digs at them. It comes off as the writers making bitchy jabs at the actors and trying to be nasty cause they can get away with saying rude things in scripts. I feel like it's the reason that Lea Michelle thought she could treat everyone like trash. Ryan and the writers already thought bullying was funny, so of course he'd let his little muse run around bullying extras and threatening people. Sadly, a big aspect gay culture is liking bitchiness or bitchy characters (I know, cause I'm gay and I used to really love the bitchy characters and think catty mean girls were hilarious) but it is encouraging people to take that into the real world.

@harryianna hook I just wanted to add to my earlier comment that the saddest part about that event was the fact that if you look at clips from the red carpet before the 2007 VMAs you will see that all of the other celebrities kept saying how they were excited and couldn't wait to see Britney perform. Everyone was so supportive for Britney and we were just about to see her kill it, and then came Sarah Silverman. It was so unfair to Britney and she was doing everything she could not to cry on stage. I don't think I could've come on stage after that.

How do you make South Park's Britney Spears episode where they literally had her blow her head off and then get harvested by the paparazzi look more tasteful jfc
@emanuelespinoza93253 жыл бұрын
As tasteless as South Park can be, there usually is a point to their satire.
@sketchyjulia3 жыл бұрын
@@emanuelespinoza9325 yeah tbh as disturbing as the episode was (I honestly don’t wanna watch it again because of it) they actually were kinda making commentary on society’s obsession with celebrities They even mention Miley Cyrus at the very end implying the cycle will repeat itself
@faaaduma68763 жыл бұрын
They were trying to be edgy by trying to "predict" her possible death in the hands of paparazzi like Diana, but they fell badly. Since Brit came out of it in one piece.

I don't think they were trying to make fun of her but the episode was disturbing
@Nightman221k3 жыл бұрын
I actually think that episode was trying to make a point of showing that celebrity culture and the paparazzi and anti-fans were eating up and lavishing in enjoyment while watching Britney unravel and self-destruct. It was one of their more insightful takes I thought since they weren't making fun of Britney for having a mental breakdown they were trying to put a mirror on the actions of people treating her like she wasn't an actual human who was struggling.

it really is so gross that they made a whole episode mocking Britney's meltdown/ VMA performance (which wasn't even that bad minus the fact that she clearly didn't want to be there ??) And I like that you used the word "mean-spirited" to describe the situation because that's honestly how a lot of the humor in dan's shows (particularly icarly but also others) is in retrospect.

I randomly saw this epidsode a few years after it was made it was so weird to me that they had it aimed directly at Britney and didn't just make the character a random generic popstar steriotype. Also when I saw the episode they had this line something like "She used to be so good when she was a teen and now she's all 26 and gross", and yeah I get that they were being facetious and as young teens as well as their target audience that age would be old to them, but I was 26 watching it like " >:( Uh excuse me?" lol

@harryianna Britney Spears was not ok at her 2007 VMA performance. Comedian Sarah Silverman had just made the meanest jokes about Britney and her children. She completely clowned Britney and then called her kids "the most adorable mistakes you will ever see." All of that was right before Britney's performance, and she was crushed. She didn't have anytime to recover and she couldn't pretend to be ok when she was just humiliated.
@Lilothestitch3 жыл бұрын
Why did they do that to her?
@oneajones57253 жыл бұрын
Nobody knew what Sarah Silverman was going to say. She was the host of the VMAs, so it was expected that she would be telling jokes. But, the Britney jokes were, in my opinion, out of line and mean.

The problem with Nick is that if they stop airing Dan shows they'll lose a lot of money as the competition between streaming services is really heavy

Why? I mostly liked all of nick's cartoons. Nickelodeon in my opinion made a lot of money when they aired cartoons, especially nickelodeon originals. I never understood why they needed live action programing, I never truely enjoyed any of it.
