Way too many people taking this as a jab at Carlsen when it's just Hikaru going down memory lane and giving context while enjoying his birthday. Y'all need to chill.

13:53 btw the reason Magnus resigned here was bc this is a typical endgame tactic. if he goes Ke8, then Hikaru goes Kc6, not Kd6, now if Magnus queens there's Qd7#, he finally gets to promote but it results in blocking his king's only escape square. One of the sadder endgame tactics out there, the epitome of a "so close, yet so far" moment

A lot of people from the chat didn't know the difference between someone bragging and a distinguished player talking about their history and achievements. Stating the facts about what you've done is not bragging, not in any problematic way. Bragging is a problem when you talk up your achievements in excess of the reality or disrespect others. Hikaru is honestly pretty modest here. He speaks respectfully of his opponents and his comment about his rating is really downplaying the credit deserving to a 2700 player.

The "faen!" that Hikaru referred to at 14:21, was likely Magnus saying "faen!", although pronounced differently, and translates literally to an archaic word for "the devil", but colloquially translates to "fuck" (specifically as an expletive, it can't be used as a verb). FYI: I haven't seen the original clip and heard Magnus say this, I'm just going off Hikaru's impression. - A Norwegian-speaker
