I remember one of my favorite English teachers showing us this episode and the Twilight Zone episode about a plane traveling through time on Halloween. I was so scared but I enjoyed it, even as a perpetual scaredy cat. I enjoyed seeing the older “scary” shows more than the teacher that showed the class Independence Day. Great teacher, I was just chicken.

I think this is the first Twilight Zone episode I ever saw and it still haunts me. And it's also one of my favorites to this day. I know it's ridiculous, but...I think it's still terrifying. Mainly because we have no explanation as to where this thing came from and why it's destroying the plane. Just gives me chills.

One of these days I would love to see you dive into Alfred Hitchcock Presents or the Alfred Hitchcock Hour, considering it's also around the height of old school anthology series Whenever I think of William Shatner's TV career I remember this episode & the episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents called "The Glass Eye". It's interesting how his career turned out after this with Star Trek, but I won't ever forget his appearances in these shows.

@@AveryTalksAboutStuff There are so many great ones for sure! I know so many people love Hitchcock Presents & Hitchcock Hour, but one underrated gem in my opinion is the reboot "The New Alfred Hitchcock Presents", I rarely see anyone talk about it & certainly recommend a look (if people can find it, it took me a long time to be able to find the series due to it never being released on physical or streaming). Funny to think that series was also airing alongside the reboot of Twilight Zone in the late 80's.

I like the remake of this only because they make it more obvious in the end that there was something there. This just make it look like the plane took damage and the rest was in his head. Then again, with the mental health angle that could have been the point of the og episode. Also Bart on the bus was fun too.

Guess we can agree that the best part of this ep (aside from 1 of Canada's true gems in Shatner) is the sponge-man monster going roller coaster wee off the side of the plane. Yes everybody should still wear a mask, and mental health isn't talked about enough.
@AveryTalksAboutStuff
@AveryTalksAboutStuff 2 жыл бұрын
Agree with you on all counts. Lots of people want to talk about mental health and say they're supportive of people who struggle but then they still other them the second mental health is more than a quirky personality trait that makes you fashionably sad and that's just not good enough. Good for rod serling for validating people's experiences back in the 60s.

Back to the Twilight Zone! I need to mention about Round the Twist Season 4 that Twisted Lunchbox messed up, the screen resolution on the original uploads. I'm pretty sure when it aired on the ABC back in 2001 & re-airings, i was slightly widescreen ish even on Netflix, but the YT uploads made them in 4:3 and as a result, it looked ugly & stretched in the worse way to look at. The "HD Uploads" of Round the Twist isn't much better as they cut out the opening & end credits and that is gross why would you even watch that, even the screen resolution for the older seasons holy crap what even happened?
