I think it has already been made very clear, Lucasfilm will not make content in which the bad guy is the protagonist, they tried at the beginning of the Disney era, but it is a double edge knife. One cant go running around idolizing bad guys. Characters like Darth Vader or even Heisenberg get a pass since they are the mainEST protagonists of their respective Sagas and we know all the ins and outs of their stoey. Darth Plagueis would be ~15 at the time of the show. He was taken in by Tenebrous as a youngling, so maybe about 5 years old. Plagueis allegedly undertook the first mission for his master 25 years into his apprenticeship, so around the age of 30. Plagueis seems to be a bit of an unreliable narrator, but that's the best timeline we've got so far. Calling him an "active Sith" at age 15 might be a bit of a stretch. The mystery figure could very well be Tenebrous or a young Plagueis, or even a some other apprentice of Tenebrous.

@@SoccercrazyigbomanIs not really that rare for production to re-use stuff, as long as they make it work. I think from the trailer it's not enough to fully critizice them for that. Making those props and sets is really expensive, it's either that or making everything a green screen. Specially now that you have to do stuff in even greater detail because of camera resolution making stuff look extra fake if done wrong. They are probably gonna try to use those props as most as they can to recoup the cost of making them. Now ideally things do change up cuz yeah otherwise the outer rim does look too homogeneous. I think it's easier to work the costs when it's a movie rather than a series, kinda why series tend to resuse stuff a lot more than movies.

@Traven1588 ай бұрын
@Despoina_Nyx I mean, in theory, there's nothing wrong with reusing sets, but most studios put more effort into hiding that it's the same set. I mean, adding or removing some bits of the arch, opening the windows of the cantina alongside a repaint and replacing some of the tables, and replacing the vent panels in the alleyway would all go a long way to hide them being previously used sets. Or have a built-in excuse, like Star Trek TNG did for the Battle Bridge (Enterprise Bridge from the early movies). Honestly, that's probably the best example I can think of for a reused set that was done believably and modified enough to hide in several circumstances.
@Despoina_Nyx8 ай бұрын

The Sith "being instinct" was explained in the Old Lore as being the conclusion to the Battle of Ruusan, where the Sith Order was wiped out seemingly by a dark side object called the "Through Bomb." In reality the current Brotherhood of Darkness was obliterared save for one Sith, Darth Bane, who went on to act in the shadows and rebuild the Sith Order as an order of 2 Sith Lords instead of a legion of Sith. This is how they were able to maintain the perception that the Sith were "extinct" while also influencing Galactic events from the shadows. Whether new canon will follow this remains to be seen, but most of Darth Bane's main motivations and actions have been carried over to current canon.

Watch the trailer and it just has too many red flags, ones we seen so many times before. Even if there is something good in there, it is going to be a Rings of Power, or some other badly written thing with the focus being more of "The Message" or focus on what the actors/actresses are. They are going to use that as a shield for just bad writing. Disney is not canon at this point, Disney star wars is dead, they just keep beating that horse that it is now ground beef. They burnt too many bridges and good will. Even if the rumors are wrong and this trailer is just badly done, it to will fail and die because the damage they did. This is the first Star Wars project that doesn’t get me excited. The premise of this should be good, but we know that instead of building upon lore and taking from other sources for inspiration like Luceno’s novel, we’ll get a bunch of random new characters who won’t be developed and it won’t feel right. Also, as many people have pointed out and rightfully so, we should expect a Plagueis and Yoda reveal, heck even from a canon perspective we know Plagueis was Palpatine’s master. @@Aizen2468 I'll concede that Battlefront 2015 isn't great. Though I say that because I didn't play it in its prime days, my only experiences with the game were when the servers were already abandoned by most people. However, many do prefer things about it. On certain forums of discussion, like r/StarWarsBattlefront, you'll often hear people saying they thought the maps were better, the gamemodes were better, or that the focus on trooper gameplay was better. Again, I didn't play it when it came out, but I remember seeing KZbinrs talk about it with some general positivity. The only complaints I remember hearing about it, is that the only era covered was the Original Trilogy, and that the selection of heroes was stupid, including characters like Nien Nunb and Dengar. However, when it comes to Battlefront 2017, I will retain my opinion. I think that game is great. Yes, it had a disastrous launch, and as you said, it is not a financial success. But I didn't claim it was, all I said is that it is a great game. And I won't judge it by how it was almost seven years ago. I judge it by how it is now, and right now I think it's great. Not perfect, but great, and a worthy successor to the original 2005 Battlefront 2. On the topic of The Force Awakens, I agree, I liked it back then. My opinion of the sequels started souring when The Last Jedi came out.

The trailer practically SCREAMS "Diversity, a star wars story!". I mean....FFS, even the brown jedi robes are all different for each character. Literally NO ONE is similar. While I don't necessarily think this is an indication of the story or characters being bad....it is worrying due to placing emphasis on trying way too hard to achieve this. That being said, the combat so far as we've seen looks REALLY good, which is a great sign! I do like seeing some good martial arts without a lot of shaky cam. So maybe my worries are unfounded. Theoretically I know it's possible for the diversity crew to make good shows...like Star Trek. But it still has me concerned.

@@TheNobleFiveAnd you're going to keep wondering, because no one said FORCED diversity. But open your eyes and look. Every character is trying too hard to be unique in their own special way. Every kid. Every jedi. Every single character is completely different. While that makes a kind of sense coming from a massive galaxy of aliens and cultures, it just smacks of trying too hard. But as I said, maybe it won't impact the story. Maybe they will be all very cool characters. The two concepts aren't mutually exclusive. But given what we've seen out of disney in the past, and given some of the things Leslye Headland has said in the past.....eh....I'm not holding my breath.

So I know a lot of people are pretty worried about this, and I have my own worries as well. A lot of it seems to stem from it being "woke girlboss garbage" and I'm just gonna flatout say that for one, Star Wars has always been about fighting oppression and tyranny - and it's always been topical. The Originals were inspired by George's feelings on the Vietnam war, in that it was bad - and that we shouldn't have been there. The prequels about how democracy can become complacent and corrupt, and lead nations to fall into war, disarray, and fascism. I'm not gonna talk about the new trilogy, that one was obviously a fuck up and *does* lack sincere depth. However we have another source of inspiration like this and you can find it in Andor, which covers intimately how fascism operates and how rebellion is born in opposition to it, and the cast/characters are very diverse, that is less pandering and more a fact that fascism uses diversity as a scapegoat - so naturally minorities are going to end up in opposition to it. In a similar vein, a story about a diverse or all female group of Force Users coming into conflict with the interpretation of how the Jedi wield, or refuse to wield power, is *very* compelling. That doesn't even mean they still aren't "evil" or antagonists, but it gives them reasonable motivation in opposition to the Jedi Order. That's, way more interesting than many of the plots we've had in various other pieces of media, and has essentially been the motivation for previous characters turning to the darkside, like Revan and Malek, or even Anakin who justified his betrayal against the Jedi as a means to save his wife. Even Qui-Gon, while not an antagonist, is constantly at odds with the council due to his own interpretations of the force, and that makes him a more interesting character. This being set up to be a potentially very compelling and interesting story, I want a Jedi Noir story set at the height of the Republic, which is also when it was beginning to become the most corrupt and ineffectual. I appreciate that you've noted that nothing states the antagonists are Sith, which is a huge complaint I've seen elsewhere. Red lightsaber crystals are synthetic, anyone who is strong in the force could make one. In addition to this, there are obviously many millions of unknown force sensitives throughout the galaxy. Some of them are going to fall to the darkside, some may have been Jedi, others perhaps know of them or found Sith or otherwise darkside artifacts. Either way, there are *many* opportunities to portray adversaries to the Jedi. The Sith are the oldest threat, but never the only one. I'd like to point a couple things out, for one - I think the statement "someone is killing Jedi, it doesn't make any sense!" is actually kinda fucking pointless and a bit of a nothing sandwich. That just serves to make the character, or the Jedi, incompetent and bewildered. Of course people are killing Jedi, I am sure it happens often - though it's obviously less likely to be a targeted series of murders like this content suggests. There are of course some problems with prop/sets, like the mention of the archways and how Disney Starwars the set looks; at the very least though there are a decent number of extra's walking around. Maybe not to the level of what we saw in Andor, but it isn't a ghost town either. The fight scene however; that's very good. Yes, it is very Matrix like, however this is *exactly* how I'd want to see a Jedi respond to most threats - because Jedi are meant to be warriors *second* to being religious practitioners. The Jedi are not about violence and aggression in the vast majority of cases, sometimes to a fault, and her reaction to not only refuse to use her lightsaber but clearly make few if any retaliatory actions is a fantastic representation of the Jedi principles. She is seen mostly blocking and trying to restrain her target, and only uses the force to put distance between herself and the assailant. That's terrific, and also references the original inspirations of the Jedi being akin to Samurai and followers of Eastern religions and lifestyles. (though Samurai were not non-violent, this is more referential to the later part of the inspiration.) Despite Mae (May?) making clear attempts to take her life by trying to stab or slash at her neck/collar bone, she doesn't respond with outright hostility. She is fluid and moves through the force to only defend herself and to not harm unless absolutely necessary. The fight scene is what gives me the most hope for this series, if anything I am hoping we will get well choreographed and lore accurate fights.

Good post @MetaSarcasm. I don't generally enjoy Star Wars content anymore but I loved "Andor" so I'm not a fanatic that just hates all things Disney. "Andor" starred a non-white actor, had no lightsabers, Jedi or many aliens and I wasn't bothered by that either. What "Andor" DID have was excellent production, starting with the writing! I have little hope that "The Acolyte" will be as good as "Andor" but I will give the first 2 episodes a chance unless I hear absolutely dire reviews from people who have actually SEEN the show and are not just made because a white guy isn't the star.
@MetaSarcasm8 ай бұрын
@@citronm1405Yeah I feel you on that, I don't think it'll be as good as Andor and implying it would be good just because it featured a diverse cast ofc isn't an accurate assumption; just a retort against the people that automatically consider diversity bad or pandering. I'm also gonna give the first couple of episodes a chance, I didn't get very far into Ahsoka because the plot mcguffin pissed me off lmao. I don't remember exactly what it was but it seemed nonsensical to me. Politics have always existed in star wars, you can't have a war without politics being involved. Star wars has always been woke, problem is people use woke the wrong way. Being woke is about realizing that there are people in power using systems in place to hold you down and learning to move and operate in that space effectively. This term was created by and for black Americans specifically, but the same concept could also apply to any minority or lower class group of people. Native Americans are a great example of a group of people being woke effectively, they got their land and put it to us to enrich their community while operating in the wider system that exist. As we see in the original Star Wars, and especially in Rogue One, and Andor, due to the political movements of the sith people 'wake up' to what is happening in government and across the galaxy and start to rebel. There's nothing more 'woke' than that and it's been there from the first movie. The term "woke" as well as "CRT" are being purposely misused and disparage by the Alt Right (the Dems secretly wanted this as well because power is power regardless of ideologies) propaganda machine to weaken the effects that protesters were having on the American population after the BLM marches across the country were having such a profund effect on everyday life. In order to reign in the marches the propaganda machine went into overdrive to make any attempts at using these words seem negative in the eyes of the average American, thus making users of those terms seem more extreme. It doesn't help that actual extremist (on both sides) have co opted the terms themselves now as well. Before George Floyd was murdered, you only heard black people publicly using the term 'woke' and then when other races joined in during protest they have their "dear White People" moment and it spreads like wildfire
