I'm 23, and when this game came out, I got it just a few years later when I got a PS4. This was my very first time ever seeing Deadpool ever. So when the movie came out a few years after that, I liked it a lot and then went back to play the game. The game has good moments, but then bad moments, but I actually like the gameplay. I feel like the movies took the best parts of the comics and games and just made it work for the movies. It's not as annoying as the games, and it feels like Deadpool is smarter than what he acts like normally, so I believe that the movies found a sweet spot, and that's why these 3 Deadpool movies are doing so well

Honestly the game just feels like a vacation for deadpool, even as someone who likes the serious side of the character I don't at all think it "ruined" him. Even the most popular takes on the character (the movies) plays out the serious moments, like Wade getting the cancer diagnosis, getting revenge for being tortured, and pretty much every scene with vanessa in the second movie. I don't know man comic fans can get really really annoying about adaptations

I think it's because the general public's view of the character is that he's a walking pun and reference dispenser. People misunderstanding Deadpool is what's lead to all the copycats in recent years like what DC has tried to do with Harley Quinn and Punchline.

To me he is bit of both. He has is serious moments but he also bit insane too. Dude has immortality (though he can die but he seduces literally death itself and gets into fights with thanos over her) i mean imagine having immortality that even if you manage to die death just brings you back whenever you want to go back you can just do whatever be free and let loose. It is just such a brilliant idea that he has this habit of getting close to death and is excited to meet death again. I was initially disappointed that movie deadpool's girlfriend is an actual person, but by the end of the first movie I got over it and figured that this lovestory was actually kinda real. That they actually then go ahead and had a new interpreted version of exactly that dilemma by having her be the entity he meets in death, that was a gutpunch I should have seen coming.

But Fall of Cybertron is the one game that I replay atleast once every year and the first game that I installed on my Deck and played through before installing literally anything else. Heck i regularly listen to the OST when doing stuff, Catacombs Guardian, Shockwaves Torture Lab, Burial Ground Fight, Hatch Fight and of course the banger Main Theme are incredible pieces of music. About how there used to be a deeper person beneath the mask/the humour - I remember one Deadpool comic where he is on Genosha, investigating a murder that seems to make no sense because the footprints are completely disconnected with one of them on the ceiling. Everyone else is confused how this happened and Deadpool just shows them, performing an acrobatic act that perfectly matches the footprints. The scene is funny but not played for laughs as he realizes he was the one to kill the victim and he doesn't remember it or why he did it. So on one hand you have jokes and funny scenes but the topic was grim, about a man whose brain is constantly eaten by cancer to the point that he can't control himself. On Genosha he was finally somewhat accepted among the mutants but he had to leave because he realized he would always be a danger to people around him. There was also a segment in a different comic where he sets up a perfect assassination while the X-men try to stop him (he thought he was helping) and it was shown that he often follows plans he made while somewhat cognizant without knowing the meaning behind them. It was all very funny but also tragic when you realize that there is a deeply intelligent and tactical person somewhere inside but it's held back by his constantly degrading and healing brain.

Great insight. I got a voice acting background and have to say Nolan North's voice has been such an inspiration for me since the first Uncharted. The vocal training was really tough, sometimes without noticeable results for months but actors like him are a great impulse to not give up; was almost Leon in those new RE games :) Great video.

Before Deadpool came out in 2016 I was already very interested in the character, had played this game and read a lot of Deadpool comics. And I think in a lot of ways it did get lost in translation that the pathos of his character being that he was a mercenary before becoming a mutant he was tortured and Just wanted to die. Quite a lot of the runs in the comics did Lean more on the humour but I keep thinking to a particular story called the good the bad and the ugly where he finds out he had impregnated a woman who had his child and that she was interred and killed. But he also has been a horrible asshole who tortured his friends and could be immensely selfish.

Well here’s why it’s because it waters down his substance as a character not only that but Daniel way the guy who wrote the game also wrote the comics around the same time contradicting Deadpool as this complete womanizer who inappropriately touch his woman and has no interest in actually having a relationship with them but in his comics the very same version of Deadpool is completely respectful around woman and Ashley has conversations with them. So the fact that we have a water down Deadpool who is obsessed with memes and is essentially Harvey Weinstein makes the Deadpool game ruined him not only that but the game also gave incentive for the casuals to dress up as Deadpool and become their own little Harvey Weinstein’s at conventions

Honestly, I really enjoyed the game. It’s not a good adaptation of the character, and the combat is not that good. But the humor was good enough to keep me entertained from beginning to end. I was also lucky enough to find a copy of the game on PS4 for €15 back in 2022. Which is a perfect price for it in my opinion. It’s nothing extraordinary, but it is a fun ride, and it deserved better than to be delisted and (legally) lost to time

My first introduction to Deadpool as a character was in X-Men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalypse. I was definitely surprised by his voice lines when you first met him and was very pleasantly surprised when he was unlocked at the end. I thought he was sick af being able to teleport, regen HP, he had guns, swords, for some reason Nitrogen bombs and was shown to be a wisecracking silly guy who took up mercenary work, I loved him, I always thought the newer iterations of him were a bit odd.

The argument you made about things not being as cool when they are mainstream is a problem I sometimes have too. My gripe I've found over time isn't the fact that something I love becomes mainstream but rather the people who bandwagon on who lack the passion or interest that I have for the same thing. Let's take for example Batman. When TDK came out it was everywhere & unavoidable. Everyone went to see it right? Well I loved it because I was a massive Batman fan. I loved the villain portrayals (Was stoked to see Aaron Eckhart. Lowkey was already a fan of his lesser known stuff before TDK). A girl I was friends with at the time tried to talk to me about it knowing I was all about Batman. The thing is she didn't know nor care to know anything about the characters, mythos, motivations, etc, etc, to do with Batman. I come to find out she only went to see it cause her friends decided they were gonna go see it & she went along with it & the only reason they even decided to go see it was because it was the "cool thing" to do at the time. That's essentially my gripe with things becoming mainstream or super popular.

For Daniel way, while from what I know (since I’m not too familiar with his comics) his writing does show Wades more depressed side and while I get why people will find it pretentious I think the voices in Wades head show that really well, which does add more depth to his character even though I see where the complaints come from at least on some level. The problem with this game and why people say this game specifically is cited as “killing” Deadpool is because it’s written more to be goofy than tell a story. As for the game, I personally I feel like a game that utilizes the environment more would work better for Deadpool over a typical back and slash especially Daniel Ways version, though I’m biased against a lot of hack and slash games so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Honestly, I used to be apathetic towards Deadpool and while I don't think he will ever be a character that I love, I do find him more tolerable than Harley Quinn at least. Deadpool does have some more humourous moments and I think the part where he says, "its sooo boring" when Cable is going over Sinister's plan is pretty awesome. The part where in one of the trailers for the movies where he defends Nickelback is pretty amusing and even endearing. He won't be a character I find great but I don't dislike him as much as I used to. Regarding Daniel Way, I always heard how much people hated his Ghost Rider run back when I read comics. I honestly find comics fandom to be just as whiny if not more so than pro wrestling fans. They just love to chastise certain writers and movie directors like if they insulted them personally over how they wrote fictional characters. It's hard to take their hatred seriously when in superhero stories, nothing really ever remains canon forever. You can love one comic run with all your soul but later on you know it will no longer be canon. It's hard to even be invested in superhero stories because of this especially comics. As for the gameplay, I disagree, I find the gameplay to be pretty decent and the enemy roster to be "fine" nothing great but at least better than Uncharted CoD. Least there's more different kinds of enemies to fight than generic human enemies where most your options is just sit behind cover and wait for health to regen. I like how Deadpool even lets you melee and gun combat at the sametime rather than have them be separate like so many other games. You can shoot some guys and then transition to some close quarters combat. That is far more variety and deeper mechanics than many of the cover shooters released that gen. I wish the game had a sequel so they could've refined much of these mechanics more but I don't find it as boring as a lot of the 7th gen cover shooters.

I actually really like Daniel Way's stuff. Specifically, this game and the Ghost Rider comics, because that's all of his work that I've engaged with. I think it's after he gets replaced by Jason Aaron on Ghost Rider where it takes a dip in quality because the book becomes entirely about explaining the "Ghost Rider is an angel" that Daniel didn't even get the chance to explain, and Jason's way of going about it was extremely convoluted and messy. Actually, the biggest hang-up other Ghost Rider fans have most of the time is specifically the lore regarding the Spirit of Vengeance, and not even the stories or characters. They kinda just... Ignore that stuff to focus on the messy lore. Which also bothers me, but I can at least enjoy a good story for what it is regardless of the messy lore.

Comic book characters always have messy lore, the term "retcon" originated with superhero comics. @@civilwarfare101 I think because both Way's and Aaron's runs are in the same book, the two often get blurred together. But yeah, the thousands of Ghost Riders bugged me a bit, too. I didn't mind having multiple Spirits of Vengeance, or even multiple Ghost Riders, as it was established in the 90s that the various "Lords of Hell", as well as angels, could create a Spirit of Vengeance, and it wouldn't surprise me if some of the other ones happened to be Ghost Riders. That, and Trail of Tears was amazing, so I don't mind it. But thousands is where it gets to be a bit much. Daniel Way's run, specifically, had to do with all the different souls of Mephisto spread out across the US that Johnny had to track down and kill, or trick them into killing themselves. As for the lore... Yeah, comics do be messy like that. But of all the comics I've read, Ghost Rider has easily been the messiest. A lot of that has to do with poor management from Marvel in the 90s and early 2000s, but some of that is also because they essentially just let the writers do whatever they wanted, hoping something would stick, and it still hasn't quite gotten there.

I don't straight up start liking things less because they become popular, but usually when something get popular enought, that thing usually break from it niche to try to appeal for the bigger audience it have now, and more times than not, lose what make it appeal for the original fanbase.
