He was beaten, maybe blackmailed (thats why he still doesnt talk, he will die in prison either way,) thats why ribs. Police sketches often exaggerate features so that they stick in your mind better and you can have that immediate association. If the sketches looked "average" the chances someone would idenify a correct person based on the sketch would be really low. In this case. Her small lips and deep eyes stand out.

Update: Robert Jason Owens, who was indicted in July 2017 with first-degree murder in the death of Zebb Quinn, was initially scheduled to appear in court on Monday in Buncombe County, but District Attorney Todd Williams said due to the victim's family not being able to be in court, the case has been continued. July 25, 2022 is a possible, but unconfirmed date for the next hearing, DA Williams confirmed on Monday.

The witness will choose eyes, nose, mouth, etc. that they think look like the person they saw. Either that, or the person driving the car was part cocker spaniel. Cops must have been really short staffed, they didn't have time to even look at the primary suspect's vehicle or seek a search warrant to look around his house at all. If I ever go missing please don't bother to let cops investigate, I'd prefer a team of volunteer redditors to do it, they'd actually investigate instead of formulating a narrative in the first ten minutes and spending the next 15 years trying to maintain it while my murderer dances around in front of them screaming "I DID IT, IT WAS ME!"

cop behavior makes way more sense when you reaize their job is totally tied to that of the District Attorney (or local equivalent). their priority is not to solve mysteries or right wrongs, it is to close cases and collect evidence that leads to cases being closed. any time this results in the truth coming to light is purely incidental, down to the whims of the cops and departments in question.

Here's my theory: Wesley goes to Jason to help him get rid of a problem. It's possible they only wanted to intimidate Zeb and things got out of control. Zeb put up a fight which is how Jason got the injuries. Wesley sends the page from the aunt's house to give Jason an alliby. Maybe Wesley broke into the aunt's house or maybe she was in on it because she had an axe to grind with her sister and at this point, it's not a murder, just intimidation. Intimidation turns into 2nd degree murder and Misty becomes guilt ridden and tries to make some kind of gesture of good will by returning the car to the mom with a puppy in it.
