Allies, Germans, and other countries decided to go to no mans land to greet each other, some played soccer, they traded gifts, and one barber gave haircuts to people but sadly this is during 1914 the war continued the war ended 1918. Crazy thing is Adult Swim asked the creators to make it more serious and real. When they got what they asked for it was too real for them and they cut a good bit of the 3rd season and left it at that. So yea Moral Oral got more real because adult swim ask for it but couldn't handle it.
@notaraven3 жыл бұрын
@@superstarthomas well it was more of a misunderstanding. iirc, They saw the end of season 2 and how funny/ dark it was and wanted more of that. I think they didn't realize the change orel fundamentally had as a character or that the creator was aiming to take it alot more serious. I mean when you write a episode entitled "rape" you had to know that kicked the corporate beehive. Its one of the best shows I have seen because he took such risks but I wouldn't say the suites expressed wanting such a change.

Tbh, my parents told me "don't you want a family to come back to when Christmas comes around? Then don't burn your bridges." And don't get me wrong I miss it, but I don't miss being the disappointment and punchging bag of my family. My family was very toxic and it really damaged my mental well being. So this year, I was preparing myself for spending Christmas alone since my bf's family made plans way before I came along. But they surprised me by letting me on the vacation with them. His mother out right said "the only ones getting presents are the girls (his nieces)." and I simply replied "going on the trip with you guys is a gift in itself." and we even got the girls (and lowkey his sister since it helped her out too) some clothes as their presents. And throughout the whole week of vacation we all did so much that we wanted to go home to relax! If I have to say one thing, it is this. You don't have to have a family to go to for Christmas, sometimes you make your own family (friends, significant others, people who made a good impact in your life) and that is all you need.
Moral Orel needs way more attention than it deserves. It's one of the best written shows I've ever seen

From experience (though somewhat different, still family badgering just about something else) it can be more detrimental to relationships not to go. For example, not seeing extended family on the holidays can strain close relationships with supportive family. There's also the feeling that somehow you "owe" family for being related to you, and the holidays kind of feel like an obligation sometimes.

@@sleepysmartboy6287 As many of my friends are LGBT, they express this same sentiment of "obligation". And I don't deny them feeling that way. However, I do reassure them that, to quote a song I have as a core of my worldview, "Look, I probably love my family more than anybody here . But my homies are family too. Third-cousins, get outta here." If being with one's blood-relatives is gonna be emotionally and psychologically hurtful, then call me up. We'll just hang out and eat pizza while watching Disney movies or some shit like that. And as for the close/supportive blood-relationships, I recommend my friends do similar. Set up plans to hang out without the rest of the family. If the people are genuinely supportive, they should be able to understand that you aren't trying to avoid them...and it's easier to get that point across by making special plans with them specifically.

Man, there are so many episodes that are dark and disturbing but in a very entertaining and sincere way, rather than edgy for the sake of edgy, I'm really surprised you haven't covered Moral Orel before, unless you have and I missed it. To anyone who hasn't seen it, I can't reccomend it enough. At the beginning it's mostly one-off episodes that are hilarious commentaries on fundamentalist religion. The character's major flaws are at first played for laughs, but later into the show it starts to have more of a continuity and the consequences of the characters' actions and the content of their character is shown in a more serious light. It's brilliant and I'm so glad I listened when other people told me to try it.

@@guilhermehank4938 yea, there are a couple of jokes/ criticisms on other facets of life but most of was "religion bad". There is the jokes of parents that are orals parents, the general disinterest of the society letting oral get to his antics, and the obvious questioning and shitting on authority. I like to think moral oral as a world building case study. The strange customs, exaggerated talking points, and accepted values create a outsiders view I have only experienced with early Simpsons and anime. The city being so religious makes such a familiar yet different world that you see everything in a different light.

How is it that an immigrant like me who grew up seeing Kurisumasu as the day we had a special feast from KFC, would be the one to teach Americans about Santa Claus? What a strange magical world we live in, ne? Santa Claus in legend has become a chimera, a mixture of 3 different people, one of which is absolutely real, or rather, he was real. The man known as saint Nikolaus was in fact a very real person, the former bishop of Myra, Greece. A story is told of how a poor Christian father prayed alone in the church on Sunday, where the bishop overheard him as he spoke. The man was telling GOD how he wanted to marry his 3 daughters off to wealthier families so that they could have better lives than they had known as his children. The problem was, the legalities of the wedding required that the father of the bride(s) provide a dowry for the young women, and the man was too poor to do so. Nikolaus did not interrupt or even let the man know that he had eavesdropped and the man goes home. Nikolaus then took 3 bags of gold from the church coffers, one for each of the man's daughters, and rather than make a public gift of it, he sneaks to the man's home late at night, and throws the bags of gold through a window. This act is symbolic of selfless giving, with no expectation of personal gain or even personal accolade. Another person associated with Santa Claus comes from a German folk-tale of a young boy named Kris Kringle. Kris was an orphan, and for a time he was suffering in an abusive city orphanage where the children were starved. There WAS food, the city was wealthy and patrons donated plenty of food and good clothing for the children, but the operators of the orphanage were corrupt and greedy, and kept most of it for them selves. One night after being punished without supper, a very hungry Kris sneaks out of his locked boarding room through the only way he could, through the chimney. he climbs to the roof, quietly tip-toes over the shingles to the chimney connected to the kitchen, and slides down to get back in. He finds more food than he can eat, so after filling him self, he takes off his torn socks, fills them with food too, then goes back up the chimney, back across the roof, back down the first chimney back to the boarding room, and there he shares the food he stole with the other children. Eventually Kris was discovered doing this, and he had to flee for his life, becoming a street thief in the city. But he never forgot about his fellow orphans, and they never forgot him. They would leave their stockings by the hearth in their room, so that Kris Kringle could come fill them with food, and this is where the idea of Christmas stockings began. Kris Kringle's attributes became associated with Saint Nikolaus, and so in addition to being the patron saint of children, now he is also the patron saint of thieves(!). Finally, Santa Claus also has a pagan element; the reason Europeans some times refer to him as Father Christmas. Originally a personification of winter time it self, (Old Man Winter) and of the end of the year, appearing as an elderly man with a long white beard, dressed warmly against the bitter cold, who travels down from his home in the North Pole each year, some times depicted riding a reindeer, more often appearing as driving a sleigh being pulled by reindeer, bringing the snow with him as he comes. Some saw this as a ill omen, but others welcome him as an important and necessary force of nature, as the snow he brings to the mountain tops, melts into the rivers that water the crop lands every spring and summer, and bring water to the people too! He is the Winter gift giver, or the bringer of the gift of Winter. And over time, his imagery mingled with the thievery and sharing of food of Kris Kringle, and with the selfless giving of Bishop Nicholas (later canonized as a saint after his death). So do not let any one tell you that Santa Claus does not exist. or that he never existed. He is a Christian saint, adored as a spirit of selfless giving, the personification of winter, the bearer of gifts, and as a spirit now, Saint (Santa) Nikolaus (Claus) can and does some times possess other people. You, or some one you know, or that stranger who takes time out of his life to put on a fat suit and itchy beard and a hat far too warm to be worn very long inside a climate controlled shopping mall... he is the spirit of selfless giving, and so any one, literally any one can BE Santa Claus, even if only for a moment or an hour... when the spirit of Christmas comes over you. My Beloved Hubby Passed 11/15/19 unexpectedly, at the age of 45. I had an offer to spend Christmas with a friend and her family. Honestly, I was in no mood to celebrate or fake a smile. I stayed home (purposefully undecorated) snuggled with my fur-babies and watched some 80s cartoon Christmas specials, like He-Man, just to get some giggles. It wasn't horrible. It's what I needed to do.

I think it should be noted in the Boondocks special that Riley's subplot stems from the fact that he and Huey originally come from a poor upbringing. As kids, we're constantly told that Santa rewards all children who are good, but then if you're poor that doesn't come to fruition and causes disenchantment of the holiday and breeds resentment. As over the top as he is, and as adult as the show is, Riley is still very much a young child. My mom actually used to tell me that Santa had to be payed, and that's why poorer children don't get visited by him as much or at all.

Pretty Pretty Dress was hard to watch when I was younger and still is. Seeing someone dealing with suicidal thoughts and attempts then snapping. And the uneasy feeling I get when Bills revealed in a dress for the first time is never a fun thing to watch even if it’s animated.

I felt like the "dreaming of a white Christmas" episode of American dad was kinda disturbing
@plushpg13805 жыл бұрын
@Owen Shapiro later American dad episode, the set up of episode is family is celebrating xmas, stress and responsibility of holiday and family is pissing stan off ,he sees principal Lewis living free, he wishes to switch places with him . He gets it. in different this reality he single,carefree. Lewis had his family and job. Stan goes crazy as usual to get things back to normal, he wants HIS family back . He is granted to go back to HIS family, turns out his real family is not francine,hayley, Steve . They dont even exsist. He actually has ideal family that he doesn't appreciate either, He was only with them to make him appreciate his perfect family by giving a dysfunctional family

Thanks, guys. I’m one of the few who doesn’t have a family to lean on for Christmas. It’s hard, knowing that I’ve been basically forgotten. My dad doesn’t call, I have no idea where my mom is, and my extended family doesn’t keep in touch. It hurts seeing everyone happy with their own families, getting presents, spending time...I feel like I’ve been left out in the snow. Thank you for your kind words. I’ll try to get through it.

I'm truly sorry your Christmas is such a lonely time. Since I lost my 20 yr old son in 2014 all holidays feel pretty grim. Do you have any online/rl friends who you might be able to spend some time with? I hope something good happens for you this Christmas ❤️

The point of Rileys story in the boondocks episode is to highlight how some children couldnt afford the luxury of believing in Santa bc of certain issues. Jasmine in this episode could believe in Santa bc shes always been well off and could always get what she wanted. Huey and Riley couldnt believe in Santa bc when "Santa" was needed most when they were in the hood in their old neighborhood, he was never there and couldn't even get them simple things. Santa is an allegory for God in this episode. Some ppl, like Riley, cant believe in Santa (God) bc Santa (God) was never there when they needed him, so they were on their own. Huey wants to tell people the real story of Christmas (Christianity) but cant bc people are not ready for the truth and the racial and cultural differences in the real story.

My Christmas... kinda sucked. I usually feel a little depressed around Christmas, but this year it was exasperated by a stressful job as a cashier in retail, I wanted to run away a few days ago. Its refreshing to see this and know that not every Christmas special out there is just about the happy magic of Christmas and everything is great and shit, that message exhausts me and makes me feel worse for feeling like this. Thanks for releasing this on Christmas abd making my day a little better
