It's a great cheap and simple DIY but I feel like over time the quality and look of a suede wrapped dash turns out much better. Flock is not anywhere near suede by the way. Flocking looks cool for 10 minutes. It gets faded quickly and cannot get cleaned. It's permanently dirty. Great for race cars, not good for a clean street car.

Unfortunately I'm on my 2nd Focus ST and one of the things I wanted to do with my first one was to flock the dash, but it was a 402a ST ( ST3 as they're better known ) so it had all those extra electronics and the touch screen to deal with so I felt uncomfortable wanting to do that. Now my 2nd ST is just a basic one so less electronics and wiring to deal with and I still want to flock the dash, but it's still a more modern car than something like a 240sx. I can only imagine how much easier it is to remove the dashboard out of an older car as opposed to a more modern one.

BMW actually uses this technique on their interiors for things like the inside of the glove box and other things that aren’t obviously seen. However they don’t pump it on, they use a gun for both the adhesive and the flock and spray them both on before sending it through an oven. Finally, in order to get the extra flock off, each piece is manually sprayed off using compressed air.

Pacmeezy187 you can’t really lay flock “thicker” because there is only so much the glue can hold. Trowing it by hand is a huge pain in the ass. The flock is way too thick in some parts and thin when throwing it by hand. It turns out much better with the applicator.
