How did you know it was threaded on? If it was soldered on then, you would have bent and cracked the copper and you would have to replace the backside. I made that mistake cause it was soldered on, and had to open up the drywall on the inside of the house and replumb it. Wasn't too bad to replumb but would have had to be replumbed regardless for the new spigot to be added on.

Me too Britt. I did not know if my backup wrench would work or not. It totally freezes here. There should be a frost free hose bib in there, but you could tell this was done long ago. They may at some point change it, but for the moment they just wanted the leak stopped.

I see you secured the back of the pipe while turning the spigot. I can't reach my back end because it a tight space behind way. Can i just turn the front end with channel lock pliers? Thank you

You can, but if it is not secured in the wall there is potential for something to happen. Do you know what kind of pipe it is?
@153Rocko3 жыл бұрын
@@ThatFixItGuy its a threaded pipe. I used a plumbers wrench and applied light pressure. You video was a good reference. Thank you

What do u do when u can't get to the pipe on the other side (the pipe inside the house) to grab it tight? My indoor pipes are definitely hidden. The outside bib is sitting against brick wall

Is it drywall on the other side of the wall? I personally would rather cut and know that turn and pray.

Mine is backing up to a tile shower 😢 no way to get to that without literally cutting out pieces of tile. That sucks and it’s leaking. Going to change the washer in the handle and hope for the best.

Is it possible these my old and leaking faucet is soldered on instead of threaded ? It appears to be original to the house from 1977.

My pipe is inside my masonry wall on side of house and unable to get to inside pipe to hold. Even if I wanted to put a sharkbit how can I hold pipe to create the pushing pressure needed?

In fortunately you need to get in to that back side of the wall. It should be drywall or crawl space.

Outdoor faucet was leaking. Estimate from plumber to replace faucet $350. Vinyl siding removal and replacement for access $250. Total $600. I went to local plumbing supply store. Washer and screw for faucet $1.69. Enough said.

Right on. I always love a repair instead of replace when possible. Thank you for sharing.

There is usually a shut off valve inside the house.
