Really love the format, in particular the new category updates. Love the pocket feel/improv stuff especially, it’s so great you highlight that because it’s so crucial with regard to NFL success. Some suggestions for added categories: maybe footwork/lower body mechanics, since you already have release. You could also add a specific category for touch/ability to layer throws over the middle. It goes along with accuracy but that sort of general feel is what separates guys like Brock Purdy from other guys with his work over the MOF, and it’s important to note that

I remember watching him last year and thinking he was an "unpolished Geno". This year he has greatly improved upon his pocket maneuvering skills and processing. Definitely still lacks some accuracy at times, and similar to Geno he trusts his arm a little too much at times and that will lead to INTs. If he gets drafted and put into the right system with a HC who can reel him in at times, I can see him being a top 12-15 QB.

You should create a rubric with pro comps for each letter grade, also are the grades in comparison to college athletes or nfl athletes? The rubric would also reduce accidentally making player comps when describing a prospect because the specific trait you're speaking about would have the natural comparison built in so you wouldn't need to make the disclaimer that it's not a full pro comp

@zackhurwitz944124 күн бұрын
@@felixlara2945When has he had a chance to play in those conditions? Josh is one of the best QBs ever in inclement weather, but it's like everyone has forgotten about all the interceptions he was throwing every year, up until now. I don't think Herbert would have an issue playing in that weather. I've seen Herbert execute every throw you can ask a QB to make. I think Josh has more arm talent, in that he's better on the run. You'd think Herbert was a lot better, if he was throwing to a top 5 WR at one point (Diggs) instead of just a great slot WR (Allen), a talented but often injured X WR (Williams), Josh Palmer and now QJ and a banged up rookie in Ladd. Herbert and Allen both have A+ arm strength. If there's a difference in either's favor, it's negligible.

I think something you didn’t talk about with Cam is the fumble issues. While his pocket feel is usually good when he’s got his eyes ahead, sometimes he forgets defenders that get behind him are still on the field. It really reminds me of Will Levis. So when he holds onto the ball a bit long he can take fumbles from behind. Overall I feel he reminds me of Levis with a lesser arm but a little more regular pocket feel. The decision making as well reminds me of that type of QB. I think if he ‘busts’ it would probably look something like Levis. But then again, there’s also stuff about Cam’s game reminiscent of Love liked you talked about, and going even further back he reminds me of Steve McNair. Definitely an interesting prospect but I’d probably only have him above Penix/Nix as far as looking back a year. I ended up liking McCarthy more and Jayden was higher for me as well. But in today’s day and age he’s definitely a guy that could go in the first round and it wouldn’t be a terrible overdraft. I’m interested to see how u feel about Shedeur. I think you probably will like his pocket presence a bit less bc he drifts backwards a lot, he also has less arm strength, but his accuracy, to me, is far and away ahead of anyone in this class. Love the content 👍

One thing that would make your evaluations better I think is to use data particularly advanced data to double check yoru rankings. You gave x on intermediate throws what PFF's grade on intermediate throws. What is the QB completiton above expected percentage? What is the average time to throw. What is the sack to pressure ratio? The problem is some of this data may not be available yet. For example what a NFL+ subscription gets you access to NextGen stats which gives you a lot of advanced metrics like to time to throw, completion above expected percentage, sack to pressure ratio for the NFl updated for Sunday's game on Monday morning, but there is nothing like that for college. The place to get it for college is PFF but its not a part of the basic PFF subscription. Once they put out their draft guide, it does include a lot of that advanced data that could help you refine your grade. It has clean pocket PFF grade, intermediate passing PFF grade, short passing PFF grade, completion above expected percentage, average time to throw, pressure to sack ratio, PFF grade out of a clean pocket, air yards, a lot of data that can kind of serve as a check, maybe I should raise this from a B- to a B because the PFF data is not necessarily bearing out what I saw, or maybe I should lower this from A- to a B. Film review I think is slightly more important than the data, but it can help contextualize the film.

my testimony of the Cam ward experience is for real ones who have been hip to him since he entered the transfer portal out of incarnate ward, and we heard he had generational arm talent, which perked our ears, and on face value, that checks out. like yeah, real deal, you go back to his years starting at incarnate ur really excited you even see it translate to Washington state, talent wise he's a sparkplug. you keep watching him and he starts seeming more like a firework over time. Hes a guy who before this year, as a stan you'd float his name as a top 5 QB and hear 5th round pick, which is what makes this awkward because either we were right about him or everyone with 5th round grades last year were wrong, and sometimes i feel like we were wrong because my deal with him is spread guy, narrow base, overly reliant on the rocker step. This will be a tale as a old as time, These prospect types are huge risks to me among a position of huge gambles. His release helps but when you deal with a guy who, not only flashes overly aggressive decision making but lacks consistent control of the ball accuracy wise and inconsistent mechanics, its hard to say you rely on anything particularly to take him top 15. his ascension has been historically strange.

Interesting. I’m a giants fan so I’m curious. But my reason for him being projected so high the NFL having brought so much attention to the qb position that everyone thinks it’s the main and rlly only think u need to succeed on a team. Reason as to y u see people like bo nix, Zach Wilson, etc get pushed up so high.
@obamadidyourmom19 күн бұрын
I’m a firm believe that when u look at a qb u can tell if he is Ass or not. It’s not rlly hard to tell. When I seen josh Allen I knew. Yeah they might have to clean up stuff like him w turnovers, but they have “it”. I watched cam ward against Georgia tech, he looked terrible. Loved his release, reminds me of Allen. Same as his frame. However, he’s like a statue in the pockets. Can’t move can’t evade. And when he was under pressure it was just miss after miss, he looked completely confused. Now it’s one game, but against an unranked team and not being at least calm in the pocket. Ehh dk

I'd be curious to know what you'd do if your the Browns. IMO I'm trying to get to 1, and take Ward. The consensus this is a bad qb class is odd to me but thats a different talking point. For the Browns I dont see how you can go into 2025 with some bridge qb and a mid rounder and think that's going to cut it. You'll be fired before the 26 draft. Pairing Carter with MG is enticing, but their offense is historically bad. They could have two MG and still be a 5 win football team. Just enough to not pick #1 and change the franchise, and again youre fired. If theyre taking a qb, I'm still getting a vet to buy them time. Maybe its a month, half a year, of full year but you have a guy in your system ready to go vs revolving door of bridge options. Ppl consistently say "next years class is better" but NIL changed when ppl declare, and I recall many ppl being down on Stroud. Some had him qb 4. The funny thing each year is you'll hear how X prospect like Maye, Stroud, etc all hold on to the ball too long to make a play, but are good processors and ding them...they turn out to be pretty good.

My one concern with cam ward is his release. To really put the ball where he wants he needs a clean base/ pocket. Like you mentioned off of a clean base he can really let a ball ride, when the situations are great so is cam. But off script getting rushed and specifically when he has to throw off of his back foot or just use his arm to flick a pass he dips massively. Accuracy becomes spiratic and the mental also seems rushed.

I understand Sanders and Ward, are a bit better prospects, however with recent success with players like Russel Wilson, and even Justin fields looking serviceable I could see teams being a bit more conservative. Pair that with the draft class not being super deep, I could see a team in the teens being willing to move back to the 2nd round if the raiders or giants were to come back up for a QB after taking a true blue chip at the top.
