Can’t wait for your next set up!!
@LarsRR3 жыл бұрын
Let me begin by saying that your set up is certainly cool and that the most important thing in home theatre is that it gives its owners joy. So whatever I say from now on doesn’t need to matter to you and should be understood with a grain of salt. However, as a home cinema enthusiast, who has made a lot of mistakes in building a home theatre, and now has finally reached a state that is close to perfection, I want to share my journey and put it in the context of this video. When I fell in love with home cinema and finally had the means to make it happen, I did the same we see in this video. I looked for cool components, as many speakers as possible, a lot of bling brands, 2 fat subs, a little acoustic treatment here and there. It was fantastic and I loved it. But there was always a thing that nagged me. I had to adjust volume several times during a film, some scenes had a booming in the lower frequencies, whiles other scenes lacked punch. I wasn’t unhappy, but I purchase new stuff to fight this. And the new Processor, Sub, Amp etc. really made a difference. One day, I wanted to here a new speaker system because I contemplated upgrading. I went to one of Germany‘s most famous installers and I was blown away by how amazing his set up was. The picture and sound was a lot more immersive, it was so accurate, so crisp and just 3 times as good as the system I had. I asked the installer how many hundreds of thousands he invested... and it turned out it was a lot cheaper than my system... He explained me, that the difference was that I had great components with a bad concept, and he had a great concept with fine components. I sold most of my components and we made a completely new concept. A Bafflewall with an acoustically transparent screen. Speakers and SBA inside the Bafflewall, 7 instead of 9 lower speakers, 4 high channels instead of 6, higher end Processor and lower end amps. A lot of focus on reducing booming frequencies and initial reflections. I now didn’t have the cool speakers with the nice piano finish to flex, but I paid a lot less on the new speakers, that sounded a lot better in my room, and the light of the projector didn’t bounce off the shiny surfaces. The screen now was a lot larger, because I could hide everything behind it and didn’t need space for my speakers. The sound now comes out of the screen and there is no reflection anywhere in my livingroom, due to a few great tricks. My electronic components went into another room, so that they weren’t affected by the vibrations of speakers in the room. My projector now didn’t need nearly as much light as before, although I have an AT screen. The reason is better ambient light reduction in the room and masking of the screen. The contrast is double as much as before (measured), although my projector nominally has the same contrast as before. What I mean is, that this in the video is so akin to my „Before room“ and there is nothing wrong about it. However, I would advice anyone to make a concept before you think of shiny components and brands names. You can have twice the experience at half the cost. Hope that helps someone.

@ThatHomeTheaterDude4 жыл бұрын
Tristan Jones dang. Good reasoning. The whole price thing is stupid. I manage the DREAMEDIA channel and we don’t mention prices. What do people ask for? Prices. On almost every video. “ what does something like this cost?” Well here you go. Prices.
@sebulbathx4 жыл бұрын
Cool video! I have been curios in how much you've spent for a time. Tbh I don't see a video like this as bragging. For an enthusiast I think price is pretty relevant imo. This hobby isn't cheap but you already knew that. Seeing this type of video give you a hint of what you can get for different amounts of money. If it was some random rich guy showing his one million dollar cinema then I'd call that bragging. But an enthusiast showing his stuff is just a great video regardless if his stuff costs 1k or 100k. Hope you get what I mean. :)

Only thing that will be obsolete in a few years is maybe the projector. Still got another decade out of that thing it’s top shelf. Speakers will last as long as you want them. Speakers from the 70’s are still used and sound great today. Not much room for tech to change much as far as speakers go.
@themuvieguy27434 жыл бұрын
Chris this is absolutely epic really love all the content you put out. Man, that is one incredible set up. Mine is much more modest in comparison. I currently have a pair of Ascend Acoustics CB-M170's for L/R, a CMT-340C center channel, Athena AS-B1's for surrounds(upgrading to Ascend HTM-200SE's), an LG 50" 4K TV, a Yamaha RX-A700(waiting on the RX-A780 from Crutchfield I ordered to come in stock), a Velodyne VX-11 10" subwoofer,(should I upgrade, I'm leaning towards either an SVS SB-1000 or Rythmik L-12), a Sony UBP-X800, PS3, PS4 and a still working JVC VCR. For a 'budget' system it fills my apartment with clear and amazing sound.

Man I love that center channel floating table. Regarding to the surrounds, I believe that Dolby don’t recommend this kind of speaker for use as Atmos channels. Nice setup man! Can’t wait to seem how it all pans out in the new space. Quick question for you since I see you have both Prime Pinnacles and SVS Ultra Towers. Just curious, what are your thoughts on the differences between the two? I have an Ultra Center with two Prime Pinnacles as my front right and left channels, with two SVS satellites as my rears (the rears are a compromise, as I have kids and my system is in the front of a condo living, meaning I have to hang the rears)… Anyways, I went with the Pinnacles mainly because I had heard that they were easier to place in a room and that they are well balanced compared to the Ultra towers. I have two subwoofers as well, so I wasn’t too concerned by having a lot of lowend in my speakers themselves. One of my towers is in a corner, while the other isn’t, though I could probably could make a little more room for it if necessary. Do you think it was a mistake for me to get the Pinnacles? Or do they mostly hang with the Ultra towers per your own experience?

Nice review. Amazing how close our systems are in terms of components although I’m still running a 5.2 system with an XMC 2 and XPA 2. Emotiva gets a bad rap from some but I think they’re the best value on the market and they continue to support they’re products even though they’re rarely perfect out of the box. I’m also in a very unconventional space with vaulted ceilings. I’m looking forward to a dedicated space as well.

I just upgraded my floorstanders and center to Dali Rubicon 8. The bass with my sub is crazy but it makes me feel a bit sick if I'm exposed to too much for too long. How are you with those monsters?

Any plans to incorporate a HoverBoss platform in the new setup when you move? I recently built one with two Stereo Integrity SQL-12's and it's literally a game changer. That and adding the mini dsp 2x4 hd and BEQ.

So you swapped out the Epson for this JVC projector? Is it that significant a jump? Also, u opted for the 3000 vs 2000, why?

Probably too late but it would have made a nice demo to tear down the wall treatments and give a demo with and without. Great setup only 54 more stimulus checks to go and I'll give you guys a call. Gotta give you an A+ for the lack of dust, I am envious. Thanks, I'm looking forward to see the new setup. Good Luck!
