That prototype Imperial Troop Transport looks AWESOME!!! Sleek and powered up with that giant engine / gun thing on top - I WANT ONE! :) The “Attack the Death Star” game was a lot of fun. A friend of mine had it - loved playing it. The “prototype” die-cast series 2 ships ... I could SWEAR I saw that photo of those early versions in a “catalog” that came with Star Wars vehicles or play sets way back in 1978 or 79. I always wanted the cantina play set and the “land of the Jawas” play set. The escape pod ... so much story potential right there!!! “Quick Luke and Leia, jump in the escape pod to escape the stormtroopers!” Or “Quick, Han and Chewie, the Falcon is about to be captured by the Death Star! Race to the escape pod and hope that Luke finds us in his X-Wing!” Sigh. So many stories... Great video, Junkman!!!

That droid crawler used that forward= straight. Reverse= turn R/C button thing. Gawwd they made a lot of toys with that system. I remember Power Command made a jeep called fat wheels. You blew up the bouncy tires with your mouth! And it had a steering wheel and actually drove anyway you wanted. Fun as heck & I'm still into R/C.

It’s mind-blowing how early in the game Boba was produced I guess he was intended to be the teaser toy for the new movie the following year and to link in with the Holiday special the year before, basically to keep the buzz (not that I can see that there was any need) or it came from Lucasfillm (Lucas) direct, either way I’d love to know the thinking so if you’re digging and asking questions, maybe a video on the subject ‘why tf did Kenner start production on a side-character 2 years before he was introduced on the big screen!?’

The backdrop for the cantina is a different color I think from the production one. The Falcon looked like something for Playskool. The proto Boba Fett was offered in a toy magazine way back in the 90's. It was a classified toy shop/news paper in B&W. Who knows if the ad was for real if you ordered it?

Pretty cool! Really good video. And I'm the exact opposite of you. My favorite era is 1985...well, technically 1984 - 1988 Glasslite figures. 1984 and 1985 are what I remember from my youth because I was born in 1980. And I have a fascination with those '88 Brazil figures despite that I didn't know they existed back then. I just love the era. Speaking completely off the subject, can we finally call the vintage era 1978 - 1988? Glasslite were officially licensed. It's sort like how the last 17 SHOULD be called the last 15. But yeah, if we count Vlix (and most of the collector community does) then it should be 1978 - 1988. Regardless, cool video!

I never had the Star Wars vinyl carrying case but I do have one of the Empire cases with trays filled with figures from all 3 movies. I've held on to that thing since I was 4 years old. Only a small rip in one of the corners. They were bad for that after opening and closing them 15 times a day over many years! It's been locked up in storage for 10 years now. I'll prolly tear up the day I pull them out, not gonna lie. 😂 And I confess, I hated the vinyl capes on my figures cause they didn't look like the capes in the movies. My dumbass took them off and threw them away! What the he'll was I thinking?!!

Hey Junkman, I've got a request. Maybe you'll think it's a good idea, maybe you won't? I know you've done separate video's on this stuff before, but I think a great video would be you breaking down the categories of which vintage brands are official (Kenner, Palitoy, Glasslite, etc), which vintage figures are bootlegs (Poland...was Lily Ledi bootleg??? I don't know???), and which stuff is considered repro (this would include the new Hasbro retro line and other's). And which one's are considered knock off's. Some things I'm just not sure about and I've looked into it before, but you always investigate much better than I can. I just think it would be an interesting and educational video. Break each category down. Maybe show a few examples of each. The community would probably enjoy it. It would let everyone know what is out there, and what they can be collecting depending on their own personal wants. I understand if you think it's a bad idea.

@JackieWohlenhaus
@JackieWohlenhaus 4 жыл бұрын
@@GS-ry6on Well, something like the sandcrawler set is really just a plastic base with cardboard. If you scaled it up the cost would scale similarly, but probably wouldn't be untenable. The Black series is nominally a collectors series, so a higher cost is expected on some level. If it went through Pulse & online retailers I think it might be successful. As long as they laminated the backdrop properly it could last for the life of the buyer at the very least. The ones that are backdrops are really all you can get away with reasonably. Something as involved as the Falcon would probably be a Haslab exclusive at that scale. The price would be astronomical...

I've been wondering about that! I've seen Snaggletooth packed with an Imperial rifle a few times and some of the photographs for catalogs and in posters. Is it random, or did he come with the rifle on certain cards? Anybody know? In any case, I think it looks way better with an Imperial rifle. The original 3.75" Boba Fett is way cooler than what we got but because a boy choked to death on a missile, they had to redesign the figure. Now that original design for the Imperial Troop Transport is so much cooler than the final product. They really messed up on that! I wonder if anybody has made a custom of that.
