Just a fantastic video, That Model Railway Guy. You have no idea how much enjoyment we get from them. I haven't heard of Ecclesbourne until this video, so I'm off to find more information on the railway. Many thanks for this, the photography, details of the Riddles tank and the environment all great. We'll be watching for your next announcement!!

Glad to hear it! It's definitely nice to take a break from the toy trains for a bit to go and explore a proper railway. Thanks for watching 😃

Glad you enjoyed it Gavin! I hope so too, given the amount of Subscribers I have on here now it's always nice to feature the work of volunteers around the country. Thanks for watching 😃

What a charming railway, love the BR standard class 4mt, such a nice loco and the when it ran round and you could see the main line, it really good to see that, 2 different worlds old and new, brilliant video 😀

Yes it was definitely nice to see the trains passing by on the mainline, I didn't even realise it was there until that moment so it was lucky I moved the camera over in time! Thanks for watching 😃

I don't believe I've ever heard of the Ecclesbourne Valley, but it looks very nice! Definitely good inspiration for your or anyone else's layout :) Edit: Can't wait to here about the new series :)
@ThatModelRailwayGuy Жыл бұрын
I think it gets a little bit overshadowed by having lots of other railways close by - especially with The Great Central Railway not being too far away. That was partly one of the reasons I wanted to feature it in a video. Thanks for watching 😃

Great showcase of the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, its one that's been on my lost to visit for years now, shame its the other side of the country to me!
@ThatModelRailwayGuy Жыл бұрын
It’s definitely worth a visit, especially if you can combine it with a few others in the area at the same time like I did. Thanks for watching 😃

Its that a portion of the Brighton Belle train on Wirkswork? Its Pullman but I just wanna know.
@ThatModelRailwayGuy Жыл бұрын
I don't think so. I believe one of the volunteers said they had been painted in the Pullman livery on the platform side only and the other side was still in their original more modern livery! Thanks for watching 😃

We can agreee to disagree The spa Valley and the west Somerset railway are the best lines in my opinion
@ThatModelRailwayGuy Жыл бұрын
I don't think I said anywhere that this was the best railway full stop. Personally I believe all heritage railways have their own selling points that make each one unique. Thanks for watching 😃
@nathanswales828 Жыл бұрын
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy you said the serven valley is impressive but i prefer the West Somerset and Spa Valley Railway

I haven't been since I was living in the area and they were still a small outfit working towards getting back to Duffield. Really must venture down again.

We called in at Wirksworth years ago, on a non-running day. There was a siding going into a yard where, we were told, rolling stock could be unloaded direct from a low-loader. At the time someone (Network Rail perhaps) were testing some bit of kit on the line, ballasting perhaps, prior to introduction to main line service. It was a while ago now, so perhaps someone has an update?
@ThatModelRailwayGuy Жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, while I can't say what was going on the day you visited that does sound pretty typical. A lot of heritage railways have an area where visiting locos can be offloaded. Seeing as most only operate at the weekends, the societies do often get a bit of extra income from letting Network Rail test out new equipment in an isolated environment. Thanks for watching 😃

If I'm ever nearby again I'll be sure to check it out, although considering I had to make a special trip just to see some of the railways in this area I imagine that won't be for a while. Thanks for watching 😃

Hi My wife has just bought me for Christmas a ticket for the Ecclesbourne railway trip. Could you please tell me where do you pick the train up from and does it take you back to where you started from? And roughly how long does the journey last Thank you Paul
@ThatModelRailwayGuy10 ай бұрын
Hi Paul, I'm not affiliated with the Railway in anyway (other than being a past satisfied passenger) so you're probably best off contacting them directly. That said, most heritage railways are round trips so you can choose where to start and end your journey. The only exception would be if it's a Dining Train of some sort where they'll probably start from Wirksworth but like I said you'd be best to contact the railway directly with any questions you have. Thanks for watching 😃

Great video, I spotted a little railway at 3:43, maybe you can build one of those on your 00 gauge layout.
@ThatModelRailwayGuy Жыл бұрын
I have considered it but I think to get anywhere near the right size it would have to be Z Scale which might be a bit beyond my abilities… never say never though! Thanks for watching 😃

Is it possible to create a world for your hornby train set without it taking up a whole room, I was thinking about getting one and building a little village around it like a train tunnel, fields and houses etc. what kind of controls do you need for your hornby set, also how do I know if the train I’m getting can make noises and generate steam it looks amazing!
@ThatModelRailwayGuy Жыл бұрын
Hiya, it's definitely possible to do smaller layouts. If you're really tight on space perhaps look at N Gauge or 009 as alternatives to the 00 Gauge. I recently built a 009 layout inside a suitcase. Hornby also have a new TT range coming out soon as well, which is slightly smaller. If you're a complete beginner I'd recommend getting a starter set of some sort which will give you everything you need to get going including a controller and some track. And perhaps check out my Model Railway Basics series too 😉 There are also locos fitted with DCC Sound that make plenty of noise - although these tend to be more expensive. Similarly Hornby have a few locos due out next year which have both sound and a steam generator. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 👍

Love the video how did you make your custom sign which you use in the intro?
@ThatModelRailwayGuy Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I made my intro using a combination of Photoshop and After Effects which is how I do most of the graphics work for the channel. Thanks for watching 😃

12:49 Hmm I think they are running DCC, so power won't be a problem? Otherwise how can they run a sound fitted loco with a smoke generator.
@ThatModelRailwayGuy Жыл бұрын
Haha, very true! Although I have seen DC locos running with sound and smoke generators 😅 Thanks for watching 👍
