Thank you for not sugar coating the maintenance and for giving a rough estimate as to the cost. A lot of us in the laser maker community are definitely having FOMO. Several groups recommend outsourcing UV printed items first to see if in fact a UV printer would be a good addition to your business. I like that you brought up the makers that are buying these machines have established businesses.

@@KKmagnolia_runner you’re so very welcome. I worry about FOMO getting the best of people so it was really on my heart to demonstrate realistic expectations. Thanks for taking the time to comment and I’m happy to help with outsourcing too. ❤️

I've worked for a graphics printing company since 2008. Best advice I can give you is to run that machine every day. Even if it's a test print. Run something. Even the white. Those white print heads can clog. Not sure about the Mimaki white ink, but our white ink has titanium in it that can cause it to clog the print heads if you let it sit. Good luck!

pull out the cartrage and shake it everyday. the ink will separate.

We bought our 6042mkIIe from PDS as well. We do not run ours everyday so the only thing we have to do daily is shake our white ink...run the printer at least a few times a week....clean test prints. I can't wait to see what Emily does with hers...

Not all printers in the same class as the Mimaki UJF have to be cleaned "every other day. every 2 days max". I have a Roland VersaObject MO-240 and it only needs to be cleaned weekly. If you choose to go with the white ink option, then they recommend the white ink cartridges be "shaken" every 2 days. I've gone 2 weeks without touching it without an issue. I come from the wide format printing side of the business for almost 20 years...Overall, fantastic video!

This is great feedback. Thank you for sharing. I received the printer right during the middle of summer with lts of momming and travel. It's possible I didn't put enough maintenance fluid before I left or didn't shake the whites enough in between. I will try that next time I'm away for more than 2-3 days but overall I've found I love my printer more when I don't let her sit for too long, ha. Thank you for sharing!

I've gone through so many clear acrylic sheets checking the print-heads before each job. The UV printer is a maintenance nightmare but I felt like my background as a printer and copier technician would be a great benefit. I'm just a small craft shop that does laser and UV printing for craft/farmers markets.
@ThatMomWithALaserАй бұрын
Yea that's definitely why I wanted to help give as clear a picture as possible before people get FOMO for something that may not be the best fit for their needs. Once you get the maintenance down it's really easy and simple. I hope you're not running into those issues anymore.

@@ThatMomWithALaser Are you an affiliate of PDS or did give your the machine for product review?

Thanks for your question! 😊 I’m not an affiliate of PDS Equipment, and they don’t have an affiliate program. She looks very annoyed with the shaking of the ink. But I love her videos. I am not sure why they can have the software cycle the printer by itself. You think with 30 grand, maintenance would be less hassle! 🤔
@ThatMomWithALaserАй бұрын
Hey there. Thanks for sharing. I wasn't annoyed. It probably seems that way because I'm not used to having the camera on me without having anything to say but I wanted to model what everything looks and feels like. It's a great piece of equipment and Mimaki has white ink circulation all the way through the print heads and subtanks. Mimaki also has a jettable primer that allows for superior adhesion. :)

@@ThatMomWithALaser You are a creator and maker. I am sure you can figure out a way to add an agitators to the top of all the ink canisters or at least the white one. They sell the bottled lids that mix the health drinks. I'm sure one of those lids could be modified to fit on top of the ink canister and even set on a time. But maybe for the next video!
