Once I bought the 2022 Duellist, I was able to sell most my other overdrive pedals. If you have a blackface amp, this pedal is divine. It's not your typical Amp in a box pedal but it blends so well with your existing sound. And if you have an amp where the String Sider Side is too thin (bright Marshalls perhaps? Hiwatts? Voxes?), the Heavy Hand side comes into action. The dip switches are located on the outside, very convenient. But the best feature is the fat / stock / glass switch on both sides. Makes all the difference to me! Usually I'm on glass though because I don't set up my amps with lots of treble. At the moment I'm using it with a 64 Custom Deluxe Reverb. Perfect combination! The only thing it cannot do is that pure clean boost like my Klon does. But I don't really miss it. And stacking both sides - what I usually hate on most drive pedals, including the King of Tone, sounds very organic. Anyway, enough of me rambling ... cheers!

FWIW, the both of you are probably my favorite guitarists to listen to just noodling around. (I assume it's noodling around.) I think the reason I like hearing someone who is so proficient just noodling around is that without any backing chords, I think my subconscious adds in the chords in such a way that really compliments your playing. The extended notes and accidentals that you play fit in to some progression in my mind's ear that may or may not be the progression that in going through your heads, but it's so very often meltingly beautiful.
@ThatPedalShow4 жыл бұрын
Ooooh, interesting. More often than not, I’m playing diatonically around a key centre so those changes are absolutely set down in western pop music since the late 1950s. That’s why they seem so obvious. Dan has a more complex approach to key changes and extended harmony so I can only imagine what you’re hearing there! :0)

Really nice episode, somehow the mood was different live despite not interacting with the chat. To be honest I like it that way so you can focus on the topic at hand. Shoutouts to how smooth and produced it was even in a live setting, totally didn't expect all the smooth camera changes and whatnot. Mick must be poking himself mad thinking about all the possible mistakes that happen when doing things live, but it was great, no need to second guess this episode. I was kinda hoping unedited live show would mean more sidetracking without control, but unfortunately we barely got any sidetracks at all. Dan's jacket was awesome btw, great outfit today.

I love what you guys do. I am in the real amp camp as well but have gone to amp sims when I play live for reasons outside of my control. I find overdrive pedals hit amp sims differently than real amps. As more and more of your fans go to amp sims like the ACS1 or UA Ruby or Dream, I think it would be important to do pedal comparisons using amp sims especially when it comes to overdrive pedals. Love hearing the solo to Badge at 12:45! One of Clapton's best

It’s the majors and the minors - Clappo was sooo good at that)

Man, I love the brown amplification pedal! Dan, I swear, red sounds better every time I hear her!

“A tube screamer? I’ve never heard a tube screamer sound like that!” -Dan, 10/30/2020 “That’s a Tube Screamer? Not like any Tube Screamer I’ve heard!” Also Dan, *the last time the Duellist was featured on TPS, and I bought it because of the TPS demo* :) Such a great pedal!

D&M, Great live show, well done!! It was also great to hear these wonderful ODs with such lush delay and reverb. Since completing my wet/dry rig, I’m surprised at the amount of delay and reverb I have been dialing in. A little spring reverb on the dry side and a whole lot of modulated delay and reverb on the wet side. Sonic bliss! Because Tone….Because of you guys! Cheers!

Totally, it can be sooooo much deeper and verby and delay-y when there’s a dry signal present. Mmmmmmm

Amazing show guys, what a great line-up of pedals. I'm eagerly awaiting my KoT slot, probably only a couple of years to wait now, ha ha.

I started watching and following TPS 3 or 4 years ago, can't remember for sure. I have always watched and listened to the show on high quality studio gear/monitors and HD TV. At first and for a long time, I had a difficult time hearing the nuances between similar pedals. Hell, I often had trouble hearing the difference between a fuzz and an overdrive! Thanks to Dan, Mick and the entire TPS staff and guests over those years, I have learned and trained my old, tired, amateur ears. I really appreciate today's show for the subtleties, not just for the humor and good music.

If you feel the need to experience the Protein on a tighter budget, try: nobels odr mini + mooer blues mood. Getting them is cheaper, the thing is modular, so you can use them separately or change up the order and as a bonus you get to choose whether the bd side is Keeley-modded or not.

Odr mini + Blues Crab + Blues Mood would be cool

Jackson Audio (Joey Landreth) Golden Boy hasn't left my board since the day it came out. I DARE another pedal to do as much as it does with the small footprint it has! Loved the show. Thanks, guys!

I had one too and it’s true what u r saying. However for me a brilliant pedal is a pedal that does few thing exceptional rather than a lot of things good.

Dan is looking like a sharp dressed man. That Gladio. Nice The Wampler Paisley Deluxe and Visual Sound VS-XO are both great duals that could hold their own against the big 4 on show here.
