I had to send this one to Guy....Love all the praise you gave him....and love your 'real' enthusiasm for his talent. Interesting fact...This radio station in the early 'Guy' days refused to play him because he wasn't considered a 'real' musician as he had won a competition which was Australian Idol. Nick you make me smile every time I watch you 'react'.....Thanks for all the love you give to our Aussie talents

It's not because he wasn't a real musician. He's a fantastic musician and he's really evolved over the years, but Triple J is an alternative radio station, and Guy's music was and still is mostly pop. It's not snobbery, they're just catering to their particular audience (which they have to do to keep their listeners). They still don't really play his music (except this song). They don't really play the Wiggles either in general, but the Wiggles found their way to Like a Version too.

Guy is amazing, he did a song called “Choir” in dedication to a friend and frequent band member who sadly took his life. He wanted to do a song that was upbeat. Do his live performance at the Aria’s where it won song of the year. Then do his alternate version he did as a duet with Australia’s Samantha Jade

Guy is not just a great singer, but he is the real deal when talking about your voice being an instrument. When you watch what he does with his mouth, face and throat when singing, to completely change the tone or pitch, mid-word sometimes. It's astonishing.

The drum pad the percussionist is using is a Roland SPD-SX. It is a sample pad that you can import whatever sounds you want and assign them to a particular pad. There are just over 200 drum/percussion sounds already programmed into the unit, then you can add your own as well.. They retail for $750 U.S. dollars.

So much talent can be found in Triple J's Like a Version and the audio quality / mastering is incredible. It exceeds any recording I've heard in quality of vocals and instrumentals. When we play Like a Version at home on the television the whole family is captivated. Even my 5 yr old son.

9:06 was already damn impressive to me because it’s an upward run, but then he does an upward and then a downward run on 9:12. And then he repeats that up word and downward run, but he not only repeated it later, on 9:28,but he adds a softer complex run afterwards at 9:32… And the best thing about it is that it seems like an afterthought! An afterthought! One of the coldest runs you could possibly do was an afterthought. But then again that’s how runs(the best ones) usually are… At least for me anyway. most of mine are an afterthought, lol. But that was just such an awesome moment to happen naturally
