Hey man! Yes, she is Filipina. She's 26 years old and had been singing all her life. She joined singing contests after singing contests and also did singing gigs in bars, weddings, events... She went viral here in the Philippines this mid 2020 when she and her band did live streaming during the pandemic quarantine up to today like twice a week 2 hours per gig. Check out her covers of Better Days (Dianne Reeves) and Fly Me to the Moon. But she sings all genres (Country, Carpenters, Paramore, Alanis, Avril, etc).

So happy you discovered Gi Gi. It was my pleasure to do the same about a month ago. This cover was AWESOME. If you react to her singing THROUGH THE FIRE and PIANO IN THE DARK (both on same video), she takes a couple of GREAT songs and makes them so much better. Also if you react to her cover of FLY ME TO THE MOON, , you will be blown away at her jazzy arrangement in which she even encororates some SCAT lyrics into her performance. Once you hear and react to these performances, they along with this performance of OFFICIALLY MISSING YOU will most certainly move to your favorites list...they did mine . You will thank me later.

Gigi De Lana has a jazzy version and she did well. Gigi got a break after she competed in a local Philippine singing contest; I think she was a runner-up not the champion. But, if you want to listen to another greater version, then you must listen to JAYA, the Philippines' Queen of Soul and she sang it w/ 2 male Filipino artists who are into jazzy ballads & R&B (Jason Dy and Jay R., respectively). For me, t's a much better rendition. 🤗🎶
