Kelly has to be one of the most UNDER-appreciated singers ever. She will go down in history as one of the monumental greats who can cover any genre, any range. She's a beast! Ariana is a great singer, but she's still "growing" into her voice.

The scope of their voices are actually pretty mirrored. Their ranges in chest/belting match, I would say Ariana has an extension in her upper register due to her lighter voice but even though they have the same range of tools, their sounds are so different. They sound incredible together

If you’re talking comfortable belting range, then you’d probably be right about Ariana being higher, but Kelly has been practicing crazy high belt her whole career, and she can pretty much at least match or almost match as high as Ariana can belt. So honestly, they’re pretty much tied in skills and ability. They can both do crazy runs, they can both add on the rasp where needed, they can go dark to bright, they can do quick yodels and transitions each, etc.

Both are incredible no doubt, but I enjoy Kelly's voice more. Also, Kelly pronounces the words she sings better imo. Watch her cover of 7 rings on her show. You can make out every single word she sings, including the rappy part. I didn't realize some of the words until I heard her cover lol.

Arianna has a powerful voice, but it wouldn’t be wrong to say it’s not as powerful as Kelly’s, and there’s a lot of reasons not the least of which is the differences in their bodies that makes the difference vocally. The size of their skeleton, the size of their facial features, neck size, and height make a big difference in how they come across tone wise and power wise. But you’re right Ariana’s wheelhouse is in her range and then her skills which are plenty. The runs and the timbre changes and the range.

Kelly knows hiw to use her diaphragm to give fullness and depth. Ariana is more head voice. You really cant belt head voice. One difference in being one of the greats is Kelly could sing either high or low part with the same intensities.

Ariana is definitely not the traditional “powerful” singer, imo not because she can’t, but bc doesn’t fit her style and personality (which doesn’t mean she can just shift to a super powerful approach, I’m talking that she LEARNED how to sing that light and effortless way bc that’s just her personality, really feminine, delicate etc. so she’s just used to) and that’s what makes people being so uncomfortable to how good she is bc she have the skills, range, control and the technique powerful singers have but without the need to be super loud and having extra effort. Ppl think the powerful singers are better than her just bc of the power but being able to sing with that consistency of volume and maintaining the same technical identity through your whole range is as hard and requires as insane control as being powerful
