I like seeing dude play the front line because he's so different than some of the other pros. A lot of the other pros run around like crazy and use nutty movement to win fights. But dude just plays it smarts and wins games without the need to do any fancy insane movement. It kind of proves that in this game good game sense and strategy is the most important.

Honestly I've learned that for the most part just have good spacing. I used to be a lot more aggressive and just get up close and splat with my flingza, but vertical flicks can be really effective as it outranges a lot of shooters. Or if you're using a brush or something, getting up and close to your opponent can pressure them out of an area or they panick and you can get an easy splat if you're being smart about your positioning.

First game, while weird, was also a perfect example of "just because you play a slayer doesn't mean you ONLY slay". You recognized that your team was bad at painting, and there were many times where you chose to paint instead of push forward because pushing forward with no paint control would be suicide. Was a really interesting thing to see and reminded me that I should look for situations like that more often when I get "skewed" team comps!

Not dying is more impressive than getting a ton of kills. I play slayer but if I see 3 dudes running at me and I’ve clearly been seen I’m not gonna start firing and hope I can take out 3 people before they can kill me, screw the objective or whatever, disappear and find a way to ambush or otherwise be annoying until you can make a play. This game really rewards not playing it as a traditional shooter.

Hey Dude, great video as always. While it isn’t as big of a topic as which fights to engage in, I was wondering if you could do an Inside the Mind or maybe just a small video on how you use the map more mid-match. I see you pulling it up somewhat frequently, and I don’t really know why since I just use it to superjump after I die lol. Keep up the great work!
@howiethao2772 жыл бұрын
Although I know the reason why, I still agree. Would love to see this video. And to answer your question, pulling up the map allows you to see the main gear slot for everyone. It gives you a general opinion of how your opponent and even your own teammates are going to play. If someone has ninja squid, they’re probably gonna be more front line. If they have sub save or power, they’ll probably be tossing out a bunch of bombs. If someone has bomb defense or ink resist, they’re probably gonna play back line and be more passive. Also, the map shows your teammates location as well as anyone they’re currently engaging with. Always try to keep track of where all your opponents are. If you can’t find someone, see if someone’s not already engaging with them. Map also shows ink coverage so if you ever engage, you know your exits. Left side of map is painted so exit that way; right side is not painted, do not retreat that way. Once you put all this together, you can start formulating plans. Example: right side is painted but enemy tri-slosher with ninja squid just got a pick so will probably paint a little and shark; not safe to engage right side of map until another teammate helps. Stuff like that

@unawareranger2 жыл бұрын
This is great and all. But how does a short range slayer play effectively against a team with a good eliter player or good charger? On an open map like hammerhead or Mahi or on some modes museum. That literally splats you whenever you try to get close to throw bombs. Those matches are always instant losses for me if my team doesn't have a long range weapon to fight back.
@dumbnub2 жыл бұрын
use any cover possible to defend yourself against the charger, if you have a special that can make people move consistently (killer wail, tenta missiles) make sure to target the charger with them for a few seconds to move without cover, it’s really damn hard
@unawareranger2 жыл бұрын
@@dumbnub the issue is I don't have those specials on the weapons I use. My teammates don't bother trying to get the charger either. They just run at the other short range enemies and get killed/the charger gets them. It's stupid how much the maps favor chargers

I used it a lot back in Splatoon 2, but only the “Neo” version that comes with the Beakon and Missiles, so let me give you my take on that one, just in case they add Neo Sploosh-o-matic with the same set in Splatoon 3’s future update. I went with a Swim Speed + Special Charge Up focus build - breaking into the enemy’s home turf to plant beakons for my teammates while painting as much as I could. I would also avoid most fights, relying mostly on sneak attacks (even without the Ninja Squid) or after unloading the missiles. For ranked matches, I played quite similarly, placing beakons in advantageous points and building up specials to launch as many missiles as I could to assist. Since the Sploosh paints really fast and cover a lot of ground in front of you, it’s really perfect to make a quick getaway. I don’t know how many times it saved me from being ganged up on, being able to paint and run off super quick, which I can also use myself as a bait to lure enemies into my teammates to let them do the killing blow. It’s a really good “support” weapon in my opinion. The base Sploosh in Splatoon 3 is all right, too. It definitely pairs well with Ninja Squid, provided you can get close to the enemies quickly enough, as even other close ranged weapons like the Brushes are easier to close the gap on the enemies (especially since Brushes can disorient the enemies with all the ink being sprayed about). Of course the classic follow-the-curling-bomb trick and pop up to splat the enemies works, too, but you can’t get someone in a single attack, so it’s not as good as using a Roller. Lastly, the Ultra Stamp, I feel as if the vulnerability timing is wider and I found myself getting splatted from a frontal fight more often than in Splatoon 2. So it feels kinda “unsafe” to use it in Splatoon 3…

@RykerDotJPG2 жыл бұрын
taking the tower is the backliners job, not the slayer in a case where there isnt a backliner, the weapon most effective for defense is the best choice (long range, crab tank/bubbler e.t.c) game 1 would be sloshing machine to help with fizzy bombs from the back, game two would be the splatling, game three either rapid or junior
