15:51 something that helps me is 'centering the screen' on my target. As opposed to trying fix your crosshairs on the target, putting the opponent into the middle of the screen naturally makes your aim align!

The sensitivity being comfortable bit is really important, I'm ADHD and *need* things to be as fast as my thought process but my friend who gets motion sick easily can't even watch me play. You definitely should go with what's comfortable over what anyone else plays. That said it's also true there's a bit of a discrepancy for different ranges of weapons. If you like playing high sensitivity and find you struggle with backlining, try pulling your sensitivity down. Similarly, if you play low sensitivity and struggle with short range over longer range, try pushing up your sensitivity. For instance, when playing frontline and midline weapons I use +5/+5 sensitivity, (I main Splash o Matic and Dualie Squelchers respectively) I like having the freedom and speed. But for backline (I like playing Hydra/Heavy Splatling and Chargers on occasion) I use -3/-3. Otherwise I don't change up my sensitivity and I can really feel the difference when I forget to adjust my sensitivity between weapon swaps, so no matter what it is make sure you're staying consistent and feeling comfortable

The H-3 Nozzlenose is a pretty underrated shooter weapon.

It is not, it's just that as MPU is now gone, the weapon is really tough to pick. I think it has the rating it deserves. H-3 is a kind of a niche OTP weapon. The time investment in it is really high since there is no MPU anymore, so you'd have to practice hundreds of hours just to start being consistent with it

As a casual player, I'm not really interested in drills and all that. In 1 and 2 I always had a problem of turning the controller too far when aiming but never thought to increase the sensitivity. In 3 I finally brought it up to 5 and it feels way better. I like to practice aim just by playing weapons that need aim. Stuff like tri stringer, 96, h3, explo, glooga, or any charger

One thing I learned about shot leading is most of the time, if you line up the moving enemy with the white lines on the edge of the cross hair, you'll more than likely hit the shots. Obviously depends on the speed and weapon but I've noticed this with most weapons.

honestly as a 3 year backline player one of the most annoying things i have to deal with is bomb spam and tenta missile spam but yeah i see your point long range weapons are strong because of the map designs. also crab tank is good at dealing with backliner due to its range

To enable airplane mode on your switch, you have to undock the switch and enable it in either the settings under airplane mode or the quick settings by holding the HOME button. From there, you can go into your settings and enable individual connections (NFC, wi-fi, or bluetooth [controller connection is always on when docked for obvious reasons]).

aim drills have definitely helped me get more comfortable with aiming. i'd been using the default sensitivities (-1 -1 i think?) even since the beginning of splatoon 2, and done okay, but since i started doing aim drills i've found that i prefer my sensitivity to be faster than that. it's a gradual process, testing a sensitivity, playing it a bunch, then adjusting it some more, but i've definitely noticed that tracking my opponents in matches has been getting easier in so many more scenarios

Real strat: just play with max or close to max sensitivity and keep using it until you're used to it. You'll be much better off than learning with slow control. Turn speed in particular i see no reason to below +5 as it's not even that fast.

@dude This one is pretty good, but with one problem for me personally. First off thank you for making this to help START getting used to motion. One problem I have with all videos available is the lack of clips from games played with voice over to give examples of when using only stick and others with only motion, and including videos with showing stick and motion combined. I don’t know if there are others like me, but implementing what I work on in the lobby, doesn’t translate for me in actual matches. I am trying to figure out what I am doing wrong, but it’s hard when you don’t know where to start, or have something to compare to. I feel it would help to have a follow up video to see how motion controls are actually used in matches. If only they had something in the game that can simulate another player to help. I just brought this up as there truly are not many videos on this stuff, and they are only good at the beginning.

I don’t often have access to a monitor so most of my time is spent playing handheld with stick controls… I do wish there was a way to improve your aim with stick controls. I think something that would help me is if I could increase the sensitivity beyond the settings they have, I still feel slow with the stick sensitivity at max. For now I just choose weapons where perfect aim isn’t necessary 😅

I can aim pretty well and consistently with shooters and most other weapons. I main the charger but sometimes I feel like I can't aim my flick shots half time. I might be playing on too high of a sensitivity (+3.5 motion) but anything slower makes it hard to move my wrists all the way. I also have good days and bad days with the charger, would be nice to find a way to miss less of my shots. If you have any tips on how to steady your hands whenever you aim with a charger, that would be very nice.

I usually use the splattershot and alternate it with the hydra/chargers using 4.5 sens on both sticks and gyro. Works great with the first 2 but there's a little overshoot when sniping since the aim movement is so sudden. What do you think would be the best? Lowering it and relearning the muscle memory for the repeat weapons or just adjusting the muscle memory for chargers and accept that often shots on moving targets will be overshoot?

Using chargers is like playing a different game, so I think it could be ok to have 2 settings for sensitivity. I know people who switch between 2 sensitivities depending on weapon class.

I know this what players will be doing a huge majority of the time, but they are some occasions where they will engage with an enemy. hey Dude, do you have any tips to help me learn the squid roll better/surge? I've played both splat 1 and 2 but I'm struggling to learn the new movements... sometimes I just flat miss time it and jump before, but most of the time I don't flick far enough... I've been trying to learn them but can't seem to get any better at them. I also couldn't get a hang on Sub strafe, yet I can do the main strafe method just fine for some reason.... I've been an S+ rank player in every game never making it to X in splatoon 2 though.

I dont think ill ever get really great at aiming in this game (or at least it will take much longer). Because I noticed i have a tendency to be delayed in some actions. for instance. when ever i do the drills, ill go ahead and try to snap to targets and fire. and even though i might be aiming at a slower rate than I normally do. I still noticed that i can aim at a target and fire, but it might take me a solid second or 2 to realize that im targeting slightly off and im not actually hitting anything. even happens mid combat

This video literally made me switch from stick controls to motion controls, BUT im having some issues. I think my sensitivity is ok, since i dont really overshoot, but im really shaky during the drill practice and im not comfortable during the stick flick + motion control finish. Me personally I only use the stick when I can't turn my body any more/ its uncomfortable. I think most of your aiming is done by motion controls. Yeah and they'll feel shaky at first, maybe you can try a lower sensitivity as well. Give it like a week

I have a question for anyone willing to answer. I recognize that motion controls are definitely better, but I currently use stick controls. I used motion for my first roughly 30 hours of splatoon and was just really bad at the aiming so I switched to stick and have used it ever since in splatoon 2 and 3. I consider myself a good player but nothing remotely close to a competitive player nor am I trying to be a competitive player. Given the large number of successful hours I’ve put in with stick controls, is it too late for motion controls to be worth it for me? I feel like it will take me a very long time to get motion controls up to my current skill level with stick controls given my experience with them previously.
