Lyoto antes do UFC já lutava e ganhava de caras que se tornariam famosos depois juntamente com ele, como Rich Franklin, Stephan Bonar, BJ Penn. Do inicio ao fim em toda sua carreira nunca arregou pra ninguém. Foi campeão, deu altos nocautes épicos, lutou dos medios aos pesados e só se apontou quando a idade pesou. Lenda!!!

lyoto looked like he mayve been starting to get something going with his striking in the opening and clinching may not have been a useful alternative for rich, although he managed to make something of good use of his legs from on the bottom and rose to his feet pretty plainly eventually. it even looked like rich was adapting better in the second round, then over it was....

I’ve just checked Lyoto Machidas record and he was 3-0 at this point in time, Rich Franklin was 14-0-1 with 14 finishes, how crazy is that, Rich Franklin was also 2-0 in the ufc at this point also.

Rich was a great fighter but technique wise not on the level of Machida. Rich was more about heart and determination. Wouldn't be wrong to say Machida was a tier above Rich Franklin. Not hating on him but Machida was elite.
