Surprised no one has commented on this yet. While this is technically safe, seems like its missing some cloud best practices. 1. The importance of making sure you put the vulnerable box in a private subnet can not be overstated. 2. You should 100% still set up a security group for both servers. For the vulnerable one allow ingress/egress only to the IP of the kali server or at the very least the CIDR of the subnet its in 3. For the kali one allow ingress/egress from the IP/CIDR of where you are connecting and from the vulnerable one 4. You should create/assign least-privileged IAM roles/profiles to both of these servers While this is a cool well explained video, I recommend viewers reading up on AWS VPCs/route tables/subnets/EC2/IAM best practices and having a baseline understanding of how they work before spinning a bunch of stuff up in the cloud
@johnmarsden33432 жыл бұрын
It’s also worth mentioning that if you are doing any kind of dodgy network stuff of any volume it’s worth letting AWS know so they don’t flag your account and IPs.
@scottjohnson84412 жыл бұрын

@@johnmarsden3343 Would AWS really be concerned if they noticed this activity in one of their servers?

@@KDmadness18 yes they will send you an email most of the time to alert you and then shutdown your instance depending on severity. Great and interesting tutorial, as always. Though I personally think they could get even better if You also explained Your "edits" (i.e. when You change something), both what the "original code meant", and what the "change" "means" and possibly why it needed to be done. Now I realise that this would make Your tutorials longer, and possibly somewhat "break Your format", but I also believe that it might make them a bit more approachable not to mention giving people a better understanding of "what is happening" not just "how to do it". ... if You see what I mean.And of course You don't have to do it for every single "edit" but choose the once that You feel are good examples to "explain a principle". Or You could possibly make Your videos in two versions ((even more work ;)) where You make one that is optimised for the people who just want the absolute "bare bones HowTo", and another one that is "deeper but for the noobs", where You also include more "What is happening and why"... Anywhoo it's just a thought, keep the good stuff coming :) Best regards.

After several failed attempts to report this to AWS, I'm going to be charged for another month renting a server that I never rented. I've begged for them to close my account - nothing. They have no support and if anything goes wrong, the ONLY way to fix it is to change your entire financial banking. I can't even lodge a formal complaint, they just don't have ANYTHING in place for when things go wrong.

@updateserver2 жыл бұрын
DDOS attack is just an irregular high amount of traffic that merges with the normal flow of traffic which confuses the server & allows the threat actor to deploy a payload, or brute-force, sql injection etc.. Think about it like this you’re on the highway headed north then out of nowhere you see an immense amount of vehicles from the west crossing over to your lane.
