I remember submitting PO's for that monitor years ago when I worked at a school district, they were like $250 a piece (even with volume purchases). Funny to see it now being sold at thrift stores for $1

Dell's high-end displays still go for a lot of money, other brands tend to have a lot of compromises and omit things that the Dell line-up include as standard. You'd have to look at TVs if you wanted similar I/O, brightness and resolution.

22:20 Didn't expect to see Play Store in that menu! It was still called Android Market in 2010 or 2011, and since this device or its Logitech companion were not exactly a success, I'm sort of surprised this would receive updates until at least 2012, as proved by Play Store (by that modern name) being installed there.

That's pretty impressive. At my local thrift store, monitors are always pretty expensive, around $20-30, easily some of the more expensive things in the store. I actually found an old CRT monitor for the grand price for free at a garage sale around a month ago, and it looks and works great, but unfortunately it's only VGA compatible. Still awesome for old video games! Edit: welp, that should have been expected hahaha

I actually use a Chromecast connected to it to watch KZbin as the built-in KZbin app doesn't work anymore. It is indeed running Android 3.2 Honeycomb. It's also x86 (as you mentioned). That looks like a Dell 2209WA. It's a great monitor but I had it replaced multiple times because of various hardware failures. After the third time they gave me a different model that is still working to this day. Edit 3:00: it's for the best. On the bright side you have a Dell stand you can use with other dell monitors, depending on the weight. I vaguely remember there being a Dell stand to VESA adaptor that exists. i used to have one of those gateway monitors, it was a pretty good display for what it was, it was solid with the metal stand and the picture was pretty good. two things to know is that if the area where the touch buttons are, if they get dirty enough the buttons can activate on their own leading to the menu popping up and the thing turning itself off and things like that. the other and bigger issue that I had with it was that the capacitors on the power supply board failed. they used CapXon brand capacitors and they went bad, of course that is easy to fix. I sold it with a computer i sold a while back and i would assume it is still working if the people are still using that old XP machine I sold them about 3 years ago. I use a CRT as my main display or i would have kept it.

You can look up your user agent string, it'll look something like "Chrome/86.0.4240.75" (Current latest stable release) Google TV was discontinued in June 2014, the latest Chrome version then was 35

Hopeful you have better luck with that Dazzle. I bought Dazzle DVC150 and it only works with 32bit Windows and only with their own software.

Broken laptops are an incredible source for working panels. So beside the panel, you'd need a (universal) LCD controller board and a LVDS cable to connect the panel to that board. Since the board that came with the monitor is unlikely to drive a panel of different making. Both found for cheap on ebay, amazon, you name it. These boards usually require 12V power, so a power brick is necessary too, chances are you already have a few spares, they're extremely common. The new controller board has its own IO, so some cutting into the plastic might be necessary to make space. A rotary tool can get rid of excess plastic in the blink of an eye. If you want the face buttons to work, then there are buttons that work with said controllers, to be found on the same sites. Or, Method B: you somehow find a panel that is compatible with the board you already have, but that's the more costly method in most cases, but it's less work.

Not too long ago, I had a Sony NSZ-GS7 internet player with Google TV. It had a funky two-sided remote with the Qwerty keyboard on one side and a "touch pad" on the other. It was about a quarter the size, but it also did not have an optical drive. It too had the HDMI pass through and did PIP. The Chrome on it was so obsolete, the Play store just laughed at me when I tried to download anything. I ended up donating it to my local thrift store...

Goodwill sells their monitors at $10(assuming there is no sale), regardless of resolution, size, or if all the ports work or not. The only difference I've seen is if it's got a coaxial and/or full composite/component ports with speakers, then it's considered a small TV and sold at $30. I've got 2 secondary monitors for $20 around a week ago and both work perfectly using the DVI ports on my 1050TI. This might be good for another video, but whenever Goodwill gets desktop computers they sell them at $50 if they are working with an OS out of the box or $30 if it doesn't have an OS or storage device installed, considering they also sell keyboard and mice at $4 each, you can have an entire entry-level gaming setup for about $98(I was using the price of the GT730 due to it being cheap, it only using 25W of power, and it being LP) only shopping at Goodwill and getting the graphics card and HDD on eBay. Also, great find on the capture card! I have an HD60S, and I got a composite to HDMI adapter on Amazon for $15 to record stuff off my Wii and OG Xbox. Which was I assumed most YTers use until recently.

Why didn't you update the Google Chrome? Those updates can surprise you sometimes in a good way. I used to slum it in thrift stores as a hobby for IT items. I love collecting old games and misc. software on CD ROM discs.

The monitor I'm using right now was purchased at a thrift store for $1-2, as were all of my backup monitors. Not that I really need backup monitors, as these work pretty good. In fact, the only reason I have more than one is because some of my older games don't support widescreen.

Surely the Dell stand is VESA size, underneath where that stand connects to the monitor are the monitor VESA mounts ... you could drill screw holes in the Dell stand.

@@TheSaltyExplorer I've got some old Dell 17" monitors and there's VESA mounting holes under the space for the stands, for a fact since they're now mounted on a four monitor VESA arm. The actual Dell stands don't use the VESA screw holes. The stand you describe sounds like the stands on these monitors.
