I've been trying to get more blueberries for a while now, and add them to stuff often or try to eat a handful as a snack. So this is good to know in addition to their other benefits

Interestingly, I've been putting organic blueberries, raspberries and blackberries, in rotation, into my post-workout shake. I'd been putting an ounce in to limit the carbs.

I so love blackberries. I eat these and add some raspberries and a tablespoon of grass fed creme fraise when I want a dessert and sometimes for breakfast alongside scrambled eggs. Yum

Red beans and pintos have more anthocyanins than wild blueberries though. Cook them one day, stick them in the refrigerator, and eat them the next and their glycemic effect will be reduced considerably.

I don't know if I've ever seen mulberries in Britain even though we have an old children's song about going around the mulberry bush on a cold and frosty morning. I noticed you didn't cover blackcurrants. I gather they were illegal in the US till recently. I just got some Ribena - a sugary blackcurrant cordial. I suppose that counteracts the anti-diabetic benefits. I think there are other benefits to dark berries though. I know bilberries are good for the eyes and brain, so I assume all dark berries are.

wild blackberries are sooo nice but the last 3 seasons in my region where abysmal. dried on the vines and never ripening.

Mulberries even have more protein than others. I have 3 mulberry trees on my property and researched them deeply. They have some compound that fights fatty liver and depositing fats viscerally. They also have 3-4x more protein as any other berries. They spoil quicker than other berries which is why they're very hard to find in a store anywhere.

@@niellalien the sugar is there whether it's dried or not, just pair it with water when you eat them to offset. Unless you're getting dried fruit that has sugar added onto it, then you're just doing it all wrong.

@@niellalien I went through a weight loss clinic that included lots of fun facts about food. Dehydrated fruit is just the fruit with most of its water removed. There's nothing wrong with that, but from a diet perspective, losing the fluid content makes it easy to overindulge in them because you're losing out on extra space that fluid would be taking up in the stomach, so you're not getting full as quickly. Hence the pairing with water recommendation.

I have a CGM so I know how food reacts. Question...what is normal range/reaction after eating? For example, I have a salad with some cheese, avocado, tomato and carrots. Beginning sugar = 90 post 120 min. = 112. Is this ok?

I've looked this up on several sites. 2 hours after eating up to 140 for non diabetics. I suggest you look this up for yourself so you can see the numbers for yourself. Google blood glucose levels after meals.
