Great little video. Used this reminder yesterday at an engagement shoot in the desert and I had some camels come around. was shooting at 2.8, but then one of the camel's big fluffy humps reminded me of a certain FRO that knows PHO-TO, and I said, hey i should stop down to 5.6 or 6.3 and make the camels more defined so they have a sense of place. Thx JArEd! 🙌

This is why I figured out that 24-70mm 2.8 is the best for travelling since people can tell where I am and can capture landscape shots easily
@Salaaran
@Salaaran Жыл бұрын
I sort of made this mistake during my first day out with a 70-200 2.8 at a vinyl market. Luckily I was thinking of another video where you mentioned how to construct a photo story (I think it was called). So I did also take tons of pics of people interacting with the vinyls, as well as trying to get pictures of peoples faces while having some of the LP records being interesting in background. And I would say this video condense that lesson quite a bit. It gets much more interesting if you can get some of the environment into the pictures.

Is it just me or Jared likes to over contrast / over shoot the clarity slider? I know its subjective but it makes lots of picture feel like coming out of a smartphone.

God bless Jared! Just got a Sony a7iv any lenses you recommend?😊
@kevinmossmx

Hi guys, I have a question and I don´t really know the answer. I´m debating on buying the Sony A7iv or the Canon R6ii. I mainly shoot stills of macro, landscapes and birds, I´m not a fan of taking videos (yet). I don´t have a huge budget (I´m still a student without a job), if I buy any of these 2 cameras, I´ll be buying mainly Laowa lenses (bc they are cheap and awesome), with that said, I need to take into consideration that they are Manual Focus Only lenses so I´ll need the best screen and viewfinder possible. I´ll also buy native lenses to use the full capabilities of these 2 cameras but for my first steps, Laowa is my primary option. I know that Sony has more MP that can help me with tight macro shots by cropping them out and has a bunch of lens options, but I also know that Canon produces better colors and has a more reliable AutoFocus. And yes, "the best photo is the one that you take with any camera" BUT if i´m spending over $3.5k, I want the best option possible. What are your thoughts? Thanks!
@cjlove4428
@cjlove4428 Жыл бұрын
I'd go with the A7IV. I have it and the R6 and I pick up the A7IV for more things than I pick up the R6. I usually take the R6 just to make use of it because I have it. When I want to make sure i get the pictures I want, I take the A7IV.

Colors science can be tweaked in and out of camera ...find a system you feel comfortable with....that means actually in person or renting. Don't be afraid of the lower older models and glass is more important than body
@salmagundi8026
@salmagundi8026 Жыл бұрын
If you're going to use manual lenses why not get an A7ii? The resolution and quality is great and you can pick them up cheap. AF is a bit slow but it's perfect with manual and vintage lenses
@kevinmossmx
@kevinmossmx Жыл бұрын
@@salmagundi8026 That´s actually not a bad idea, I was thinking in a newer model camera because as I said, if I´m spending $2k - $3k, I might as well buy something that will make up to for the next 3-4 years without worrying a lot about the features of new upcoming models. Maybe not that old as an a7ii BUT I am now thinking about the A7iii, I mean, it was a game changer when it was released, and if I invest that $1k difference in some nice glass, might as well be the better option for my first year or two. I have been shooting with a Pentax K-50 and a 100mm macro since 2016 haha, wether I buy the A7iv, A7iii, Canon R6ii it will be a HUGE upgrade nevertheless.

You are VERY good at what you do Jared and I appreciate you and your talents. I am really liking your photography as I see your compositions as being creative and unique. It was my belief, that the French government has banned any private use or sale of images of the Eiffel Tower, as it is protected. Perhaps I am wrong. I have a similar shot that I shot on Velvia back in the day (in the winter!) and have been leery of making it more widely available. Thank you and congratulations on what you have created. Bravo! m
@MP-Photo
@MP-Photo Жыл бұрын
Pictures during the day are not protected, but pictures of the Eiffel tower at night are. Has to do with the copyright or patent that they have going on with the Lights that have been attached to the Eiffel Tower. Since they were added later the rights have not expired yet, while those of the tower have.

Take your wide open "toneh" shot, then take a second shot to clearly include background details for the photobook. Looking through the photobook in 10 or 20 years, those details will be more interesting.

Just a suggestion: I sort of wish you had two channels. A gear channel and a tutorial channel. My daughter is getting more interested in photography and I want to drive her to your channel but she would have to scroll through tons of vids to find good tutorials among the many gear reviews and news. Again, just a thought.
@froknowsphoto
@froknowsphoto Жыл бұрын
That’s not viable. What built my channels is a combo of both. I sell and offer educational products which put that in one place. But a Chanel purely focused on education just can’t survive.

Depends if your trying to achieve character portrait, like the one with the old man ( which is technically still in his environment) and where a textured background gives more attention to the subject or if you are wanting connection to place or history. Street environmental portraits can be very hip. The last head shot is a classic infamous go to shot, witch shows a example of the effect of prospective.
