For the question at 1:35 . When you execute or refuse a character, the game then gives you either items, gold(war funds), or divine shards to "compensate". The rewards depend on the characters, and range from absolutely trash compared to the characters you are losing . For Sharon and Ochlys you trade a cleric and a feathersword in Cornia for a hallowed mace... that you can buy for 5000 gold in the same town. But if you imprison gammel and execute Mandrin you get a bunch of divine shards, enough to quick start a trinity rain team with the trinity scepter and a white cat hood.

Did anyone else notice that Gilbert's design is a clear nod to Ramza from Final Fantasy Tactics (PSX / PSP)? Hopefully these references will make people more familiar with Yasumi Matsuno's work. Not to mention that the music for the mission to recapture the coliseum is also a homage to the "Accretion Disk" theme from the Ogre series.

Travis, Berengaria, and Selvie made up the core of my primary execution squad with the remaining two slots being flexible. I think ultimately, an elf archer and a mercenary would complete the team. Virginia was a hard carry for another squad, and Alain proved to be more than competent. And I'm honestly impressed by how much the fight happy arena chick did for additional world building with her few supports.

I still wish Amalia had gotten more conversations, the final characters you get barely get anything, especially sad cause I feel Bryce, Fodoquia and Amalia are cool, they just needed a bit more

I added Bruno to that Squad (cause it made sense) and later Tatiana. Simply to get pesky stuns out of the way and to have a use for the only staff that allows Clerics to attack.^^

@@TheGameShelf Amalia is best girl. Managed to get her clearing the arena with a team in the mid twenties. It was a lot of work setting up the team. Evasion Tank Berengaria is just a MENACE and Railanor is brutal. Then there is Yahna giving the right buffs for the right occassion and Scarlett's Curtain Call healing with Alain being Alain through out the fights.

You'll miss Gilbert by starting from the south gate only if you start the mission without having met him at the north fort first. If you do that, then you can start the mission from the south gate and still recruit him afterwards. This is an important distinction.

So the reason why you can execute characters seems to be a remnant from earlier scripts where there were party members who were mutually exclusive, but due to how long the game promised to be Vanillaware made it so you could get everyone.

I saw someone mention before that Renault's fake name was an anagram, and the first thing I thought was "neutral". Dunno if that was intentional with his character or not tho lol Edit: I'm still on my first playthrough, but I ended up marrying Melisandre in this one as she quickly became one of my top few characters

He's missable if you fail to get Aramis, refuse to talk about Aramis secret, or attack soldraga without coordinating with him after the defense chapter. The front gate is fine to use as long as you have the side gate mission unlocked.

For me this is a great game that hit the FE itch. Also I really loved Engage, granted the characters weren't as deep as other game but they were still enjoyable and satisfying to use imo. As for my favorite units in UO, Hilda was a beast gameplay wise, Virginia of course is best girl, just the cousin thing, I really liked Yahna, Rosalinde, Eltolinde, Chloe, Nina, Clive, Travis, Berengaria, and Ochlys too.Oh and we can't forget Amalia either.

Liza is one of my best characters! She's heading up an all archer squad and is my go to flier and high evasion breaker groups. Between Rolfs follow ups, Yunifi nuking, and the extra healing and support that Chloe and Ridiel bring, it's a solid team! Plus her personality is really good. Since her brother was a fuck up and got himself mind controlled, it's up to her to lead the group he left behind, and is understandably a little hesitant to believe Magellan that he turned over so quickly. She's rad. Also a really big fan of all the desert gang in general. Magellan, Gloucester, and Aubin are all really cool and fun characters. Gloucester especially with them Dark Flames ripping into people with help from Berengaria and Selvie.

Oh good, my first impression of Gloucester's class was so bad, it wasn't until I decided to put him in a team for shits and giggles and he absolutely tore everyone apart And I agree! The entire desert gang are such good and fun characters, I think Drakenhold is my favorite part in the whole game

I really love Chloe too, she has a very cute friendship with Ridiel and overall she's a very sweet person, I also think she has a better "childhood friend" dynamic with Alain than Scarlett As I said in the video Clive is also very cool, and Monica is likable too DEFINITELY love Sharon and Ochlys, really cute"omg they were roommates" relationship they had going on Rosalinde is very fun and she almost made it to the list too I like Nina as a unit and her relationship with the Rock Rats The entire desert gang are so damn cool I could honestly keep going lmao, almost all the characters in the game have something I like, I think the only playable character I dislike is Sanatio lmao

2:09 correction, you miss him if you dont talk to him before the mission, which side you start at is irrelevant, though he will always be standing at the east gate so in order to talk to him you need to go there first (you dont have to start the mission)

Pair Selvie with Travis and Berengaria (i threw in Sharon and Bruno to round things out). Guard Seal is an affliction, so Selvie Def Curses frontrow, Travis blinds backrow, Berengaria and Bruno clean house. Literally bullying with afflictions. My vote for most broken unit is Yunifi. Even without Glacial Rain, built in Magical Conferral, free damage (Sonic Shaft), a 1 PP TRIPLE COUNTER with high evasion, and Freeze follow-up is stupid. Opponent literally cant do anything because the moment an attack defrosts them, they are instant frozen again.
