Garbage DID have a song on a video game soundtrack at around this time. A few months later, EA Sports (back when people had respect for them lmao) would release NHL 2000 on the PlayStation and Windows, which featured the song “Push It” in its intro movie. A Game Boy Colour version also released, but that’s irrelevant to the comment.

Get Involved seemed familiar for some reason so I looked it up and it was sampled in a house track of the same name from 2012 that was remixed by Frankie Knuckles' Director's Cut project only a couple years before his death. Also Strong Enough is just as good as Believe, don't @ me.

Intro: I have no idea how I'm supposed to feel about this lol #10: Haven't thought about this one in about 20 years. I like the group. This one is fine. #9: Fun fact, this group is still popular in Poland. When a TV outlet needs an act for New Year's Eve, the Venga Boys usually answer the call. No, I'm not happy about it. #8: Bored. Bored bored bored bored bored. And even more horribly dated than the video to "Bullets" by Creed. #7: Yep, this one is fine. And by fine, I mean great. I wonder what he's up to these days. #6: I don't actually know this at all, but also, duck Frake. This song is pretty good. #5: I always liked this one. Being from my home state is also a nice bonus. #4: I don't remember this one at all. I guess it's okay, but not what I'd usually gravitate towards. #3: Good stuff. Completely forgot about this one. #2: Uuuuuuuggggggghhhhhhh. Never want to hear this one again. And I actually love this band. HM1 Yes HM2 Eh, original is better HM3 Memes HM4 Nah HM5 Classic HM6 Iconic HM7 Great HM8 Nah HM9 Sure HM10: I hate MGK HM11: I love this group HM12: Guilty pleasure HM13: This is fine. #1: This would make my list, but would probably be closer to #8 Great list!

I’ve always thought of Citizen King as the ultimate, dictionary definition & common sense-definition one-hit wonder & barely anyone even talks of them as such. Like, so many OHWs had multiple hits on other formats but only one pop hit (ie. Garbage). Or multiple hits overseas but only one in the U.S. (Fatboy Slim). Or one big hit and one or more lesser known hits (Sixpence none the richer, perhaps). But Citizen King? They never even had another hit on the Rock charts. They broke up while their one hit was on the Pop chart. And as far as I know there’s not even a trace of evidence that a followup single was even attempted. It don’t get more OHW than that. So yeah, where y’at, Todd!

The 1990's. Not the best of the decade on that list. How could we forget Lenny Kravitz? Easily. Cher tried AutoTune and it made her sound more natural than ever before. And the music videos. Digital image manipulation arrived and made it possible to make colors look tackier than ever before. Guitar players looked like they were using their instruments as toys, and sounded like it too. Thank you for once again inoculating me against nostalgia.

SPOILER I hate that Vengaboys song and the Vengaboys in general. To me, they were always a version of Aqua that don't let the audience in on the fun. Yeah it's catchy but imo it's catchy in the wrong way and very annoying (even though I can stomach songs like London Bridge and Blah Blah Blah no problem). I don't really like most of Jlo's R&b stuff, not just because of all that stolen vocals controversy but because they are mostly very flat and Jlo is better at Latin flavored dance songs. I'd probably rank this along Jlos best R&B songs though, along I'm Glad, it's definitely leagues above the murder remixes, All I Have and Get Right. I still prefer Waiting for Tonight and Let's Get Loud as On The 6 singles by far. That Don't Impress Me Much is probably my favourite Shania song so I'm glad to see it so far up :) I would probably have ranked Baby One More Time and Believe in my top 10 because of their influence on music and pop culture in general but I can see why you excluded them from the list proper :)
