My wife and I live in Westlake Village (part of Thousand Oaks) in Ventura County and its like living in paradise. Crime is almost non-existent, the weather is wonderful, there is no graffiti, no homeless encampments and the streets and other public infrastructure is incredibly well-maintained. It is also a short drive to really nice beaches. The North Ranch section of Westlake Village is Ventura County’s Beverly Hills, with lots of expansive homes on beautifully maintained lots. I have lived here 6 years and have zero complaints.

I have lived in SLO before. As far as what you described, you are going to get no argument from me. What I hated about living in slo was the total “analness” of the place. Living in that county drove me nuts! People have way too much time on their hands, and reprimand you for the stupidest things. If you get caught smoking a cigarette in the city of San Luis Obispo, you are subject to a huge fine. I don’t smoke, but come on, you can’t get more anal than that!
