I bought a roll-aboard carry-on at Costco for $39.99 several years ago. It's been with me through Asia, Europe, the Americas, and has rolled across cobblestones and uneven surfaces many times. I've had zero problems. If and when it eventually breaks, I'll be perfectly satisfied with its service. Maybe I've been lucky?

I always say you should learn AT LEAST two phrase in the native language(s) - 'I don't speak (local language), do you speak (my language)?' and 'Where is the (destination of choice)?' the second phrase should include certain vocabulary options like your ambassy, the hotel you are staying at, bathroom, restaurant, police station, etc. And always learn the politest, most respectful form if there are multiple ways to say it.

4:40 very true. I can count on showing up 60 mins before a +10h intl flight at Heathrow, for example, because I know they get passengers to the gate so quickly. I regularly show up for Heathrow flights to USA west coast 60-90 minutes in advance because they always get me through to the gate on time, usually in only 20 minutes, before boarding has even started. But if I were flying from Los Angeles or San Francisco, I’d have to show up 2h in advance because it depends on the airport so much...

For tip 2: if you have a checked in bag, they tend to wait longer before getting you off the plain, as they will need to find your bag. (for obvious reasons). And they make a layover less clumsy For tip 6: also always be friendly to them: "hello", "goodbye", "have a nice day". I know this is basic stuff, but I work in retail so I know a lot of people are just extremely condescending.

Knowing some Japanese in Japan is something I absolutey agree with. people know some English, but many are too shy to talk. An the translations of signs is sometimes really bad. When we went back home, I was totally confused, because the signs said "immigration" at the airport. My (basic) Japanese skills back then helped a lot, because I could read 出, which means to leave and is also a part of the word for exit.

Hello, I looked but couldn't find a direct message to you so I'm sending from here. I have a question about the rights and commerce impact of the "North West Passage". Being global warming is melting the artic ice, it seems that shipping will start using it. It's cheaper and faster distance wise. The only thing I see is that ships will need to be more heavy duty to break through any ice build up, similar to the great lakes at this time. Can you find out more on this topic? The "North West passage" that is not the Great lakes. Just curious.

To avoid the early morning X-ray and patdown by security also for comfort think about what you wear ... before leaving home remove all jewellery/watches, wear comfy clothes with no metal fasteners or studs, no underwire bra, footwear without metal fasteners (also should be comfortable to walk in and easy to remove/put on again)... won't work if you've got a metal hip or plate in your body!

1:25 buy TravelPro. Job done. The zippers fix themselves! I’ve experienced it many times and all flight crew I’ve known swear by them. Also, pro tip, buy two wheeled instead of four wheeled. Yes, they’re a bit less convenient in some circumstances, but the wheels are set into the luggage case and so are much less exposed, and therefore are much less easy to damage. Two wheeled cases last way longer than four wheeled due to this. With wheels sticking out, four wheeled cases are much more likely to be destroyed either by baggage handlers or inadvertently by yourself as the wheels are so exposed sticking out of the case like that.

What! While you're in Japan you should try the McDonalds and also spend your time walking around with no plans. I would also recommend packing at least triple the amount of everything you think you need since giving gifts to everyone you meet in Japan, like your server at McDonald's, is customary but just throwing one of the socks you are wearing at them is sufficient. You mightthink that sounds weird, but gifts is part of their culture and that is how they usually do it so, but you don't have to look it up because now I've told you! Enjoy

Your point about Chicago is spot on. There was a famous youtuber who made that reference saying traveling in Africa is not more dangerous than the US because of the murder rate. And he was technically right. Burkina Faso has a lower murder rate than Hong Kong on paper. But those statistics are ridiculous. Burkina Faso is extremely dangerous. So in that regard it's way more useful to consider the travel advice from your country (specially UK and US have country reports that would give you advice on the safety of each country).
@fjellyo3261

I was wondering, is it even useful to learn ukrainian or should I just look up some russian words? And when do ukrainians use russian/when do they use ukrainian? Debunk of the video 1. I have cheap luggage that I bought in a random shop for twenty pounds ten years ago. I've had no issue with it whatsoever. 2. I usually show up at the last minute and I have never missed the flight. 3. Travelling with budget airlines will save you more than going with the big ones no matter what kind of a program you sign up for. 4. You don't need to go to Thailand, you can get Thai Massage in Prague city centre. 5. I once removed something from a bag before traveling and then I missed it. 6. On my way to Israel I said I had a bomb in my phone. They let me in. 7. I tried not to joke when asked stupid questions, I had to wait two hours in the investigation room. 8. 19:18 avoid pointing out cultural and racial stereotypes. That's a dangerous area today. 9. The most dangerous place in the trip will be the plane for most cases. And you've already made that mistake. 10. Don't try to speak local language with locals. Your slow, lousy effort will only piss them off.

Debunking (a few because of time constraints) your debunking: 1. Obviously everyone gets different mileage at different price points, the worst thing may never break, my point was that when it breaks it ruins your trip. On average the better quality (not neccisarily based on price, but heavily correlated_ 3 - Often times legacy carriers are cheaper than budget airlines, or budget airlines do not operate. You'd be an idiot not to collect the points 6 - BAD ADVICE 7 - and joking would have helped? 9 - Planes are safer than any other form of transportation

@@ibx2cat I meant it mostly as a joke but thanks for an answer.

@@damasek219 Dude if this is a joke it's a bad one. If it's not, your experiences do not 'debunk' the advice. Your retorts are the equivalent of 'I've never been hospitalised, therefore nobody needs health insurance'.

@@damasek219 I never said you couldn't make a joke. I said it was bad regardless of the context. A bad joke if it was one, inane advice if it was genuine.
